ATP and ranged weapons

Does a higher ATP help with ranged weapons? (rifles, shots, handguns) Or does ATP only affect melee weapons like swords and whatnot?

Does the ATP affect in any way the power of a technique?

ATP affects how much damage you do with the weapon, regardless of weather or not its a melee or ranged weapon.
