I am beginning to edit sprites, so far I have one that looks like Jackson, my HUmar. But I'm having trouble with colors and junk, I'm working on Robo47's sprite but I just can't seem to get the colors to blend well.

question:

What program do you use to edit sprites?

BTW this is going to be my new sig when I get all my characters finished.

In my case, it would Paint Shop Pro, but it seems that I have lost the program. ;_;

I use Paint or Paint Shop Pro, whichever I feel like using. *G*

I've never posted any of my sprites here, but they're on my website (http://www.sadisticsoprano.ipfox.com).

I'm using Paint for the editing, and Paint Shop Pro for the Saving, so, anything else I should do in PSP?

I do my pixel editing in MSpaint, but I don't edit sprites a lot.

I use the paint program. Doesn't always work, though. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_argh.gif You can also visit here (http://www.dlxnet.biz/~ninsprites/) and maybe ask help?

It's "Pixel Artist"!

Nah, I don't really do much spirte art. But something I've learned from working Paintshop Pro recently is to save the file in a higher file format so you don't get jpeg artifacts like the example you put up there.

Sorry I couldn't help more.

I personally use Paint Shop Pro for it...

Hmm. If you merely edit colours, keep the original shading, just in your colours(For example, if it's white with light grey/blue/whatever as shading, and your character is red, use normal red for the white parts, and whatever number of darker shades of red). This keeps things consistent and looks better.

If you signifigantly edit the costume/hair/etc, try to keep your own new shading in line with whatever is left from the original, including light source, if any, number of colours used in shading, etc.

...I can't really be of much help. I just kind of started sprite editing, just like I just kind of started CGing. It's not that hard, really. Just do it on a pixel by pixel basis.
