Offline Free Battle Quests

Me and my mate played the first quest in free battle mode and once completed, didnt unlock the second quest. To the best of my knowledge i know that there are three missions.

I tried speaking to everyone on p2 once completed but nothing happened. Anyone know the problem?

Since you can't actually go through the story mode and quests co-op (*sob*) I'm guessing your ability to play it in battlemode only allows you to play quests *completed* rather than unlock anything new?

I'm really interested in hearing *any* details on co-op play offline, as that's a big draw for my looking into this one. I was very disappointed with the lack of options in PSO I&II for that (quests, unlocking access to the different areas, even the storymode with the messages - all solo only :b).
