Here's some ideas for the sequal:

1. Gambling store, much like the one in Diablo. This would alleviate most of the rare item blues.

2. Secure trade system. Yeah yeah, you can't trust trades anymore, but I still want to see it implemented by that lazy Sonic Team.

3. Make your own skins. If you don't know what I mean go get Virtua On: Oratorio Tangram and you'll see. You can give your VRs custom paint jobs, so why can't they do it for PSO 2? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_biggrin.gif

4. Private Servers. Yup, somebody with a T1 line and a server could host their own ships/blocks. Wouldn't that be cool for a community like PSOW?

5. More character classes. FOcasts anyone? Or how about Cyborgs and mutants?

6. Simple and Advanced combat systems. Simple combat for when you feel like button mashing or Advanced combat for when you feel like wreaking havic with super-combos!

7. Character and item implementation. Yup, I want my PSO 1 ver. 2 character to transfer over to PSO 2, complete with mag and weapon arsenal. If I can't then I will be highly pissed.

8. Bigger teams and more mayhem. Enough stated.

9. Keep most of the gameplay mechanics in tact. PSO ain't broken so it doesn't need to be fixed in PSO 2.

Now, for the story. I want to see a rival ship of refugees to come to Pioneer 2. That would kick ass. It would be sorta like A Tale of Two Cities except bloodier http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/icon_biggrin.gif

Blech, and give all those pervs that get their rocks off by oogling pixalated women/elfs another thing to gawk at? I mean Hunewearls are scantly clad enough, but in bikinis?

They need some force only spells. Sure, their spells hit harder than a Hunter of ranger, but nothing in comparison to a hunter or rangers hard attacks. They just need something to distinguish themselves as hard hitters out there.

Personally, I doubt we will see a sequal. This being the last year of the dreamcast, they would have to make a completely new game before the year is over or the begining of next year. PSO took years to make, even if PSO 2 used the same engine it would still take a long time to develop. They could always make it for another system, but with no systems supporting online gameplay from launch it would be a while before PSO 2 would come out. Not only that, Sonic Team is busy working on Sonic 2, and producing games from other systems.

The only way I see PSO 2 being released in the next couple of years is if somehow dreamcast remains profitable, X-Box has online play a few months after its release, or they make a normal PS game.

Those are good ideas thougth. I don't know how you would be able to have custom skins. You might be able to pass characters, but then they would have to make a new mode and push the level max to 300. Also, the FOcast thing is just plain wrong, thougth their would be new classes or characters (RAmarl?)

Hmm Spy I think PSO-2 will be more inline with the Phantasy Star world so I wouldn't be suprised if its set 1,000 years into the future. In that case, it would be impossible to bring your old character from 1.0 or 2.0 because well... he or she would be dead by then =)

Besides, there should be new content, gameplay and aspects to the RPG that would make your old character incompatible with the new game.

I definately agree there should be more classes. Mutants are an excellent idea!

Casino games in the lobby would just kick total ass. It would never happen because Sonic team intend to keep the game "wholesome."

I think we'll see more customization options with the skins and user models, but I doubt we'll ever see "custom skins"--at least not until everyone has broadband. Its not that the Dreamcast doesn't have enough memory, but the files themselves would be so large that they wouldn't fit on the VMU, and even if they did, you have to be download someone elses skin everytime he or she joined your game. Can you imagine having to wait for someone to download 3 custom skins over a 28.8K connection?

Private servers would be rad, but it will be a cold day in hell before Sega gives out the PC executable that can be hacked/reverse engineered =)
