Hello all,

I have a question. I'm looking for an MP3 player, especially as my selection of music grows. (Gotta love iTunes and Napster)

My question is this, I know the iPod is the most heard MP3 player around. And I'd love to pick one up when my budget permits, but my question is this. Is the iPod live up to the hype? Do you think that is defently the MP3 player to buy?

Please leave comments, and thanks.

I'm hoping to pick up the 20 GB version, when I can afford it.

Better get me a summer job...lol.

Thanks for the responses.

EDIT: I have another question. Does the iPod come with the connecters to connect it to my PC? Or are they sold seperatly? If so, which cables do I need, and could you get me a link to them on the apple site? Thanks!

iPod mini's are $250 and I can get the 20GB iPod for $300. I'd rather pay the small extra difference of $50 and get 16 more GB's ^_^.

EDIT: Ok...20GB ones are $400...but I'd still rather pay $300 for a 15GB then $250 for a 4GB, lol.

Damn...I wanted that 20GB but theres no way im getting $400 easily...

Yes, that link has been tossed around quite a bit by now.

They now offer a battery replacement.

I have an iPod, and my only complaint is that just like when you play mp3s off the computer, there is a very tiny extra gap between songs. More of a skip, I guess. But I have a lot of albums with songs that run into each other. It probably wouldn't be that big of a deal to most people, but I'm anally retentive so it bugs me a little.

But I love everything else about the iPod, so I just live with that one little thing. Haha.

Thank you for the comments, but I have one question.

What cable do I need to connect it to my PC since my PC doesnt have Firewire?

Oh, and monkey, I use iTunes for music purchases, but Winamp (with the plug in to play iTunes music) is THE best ^_^

I have no idea how an iPod would connect by any other way than Firewire. Maybe by USB2, but the thing is supposed to be fast between your computer and itself.

Yeah, there's a USB 2.0 cable that you can buy to connect it.

I have a 20GB rio karma, and I love it. You can find it onsale for $280 occasionally at retail stores, plus a $20 rebate. For $260, it can't be beat. Plus the menu system is great, it also has a louder headphone jack, and supports a lot more formats than the ipod. Rio is very supportive of their product as they have numerous firmware updates that upgrade what real live users request.

Definately worth a look.

I hear that's only for the first generation iPod's..

Last year I had a 10GB but it was stolen. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

I now have a 15GB iPod that I got last week.

I love iPod's.
