Yeah I only found out about a week ago, after downloading PS 2 - Phantasy.
The intro of that song has the same melody as the PSO Intro Song.
Then there's the PS2 song called Silent Zone, which has the same melody as the Spaceship Music. (Partially of course)
Crevice has almost the same melody as Silent Zone http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif, it's slightly faster and a bit lower-toned, reminding me more of the Spaceship music...
Mystery, hmm.. it reminds me a bit of the Spaceship Music too http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

Well I'm not sure if there's any others that look-a-like with the PSO Soundtrack, but it sure is funny as hell http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

That's pretty funny. Sonic Team likes leaving Easter Eggs and such from old games.

Like rappies... and newmans... and....

I think the most obvious one is "Rise or Fall", the PS2 Battle Theme, being in Tricktrack PART2/-Versus1-Tricktrack.

Silent Zone, as you said, is in that, as well as the dungeon theme for PS2 and one of the dungeon themes from PS1.

One of Phantasy Star's dungeon themes is in A Longing for Ancient Times PART2/-Versus2- A Longing For Ancient Times as well as Lutz's theme from Phantasy Star II.

There's probably even more I'm missing, heh.

Yeah, you can really notice the Phantasy Star2 battle music in the VR spaceship. Of course it only lasts for like 15 seconds, but its there. Really brings back memories of the game.

What about the song used at 'vol opt' the second part.
I think it's the best song in the game, is it also from a classic?

(Maar hee, een Nederlander moest wel weten dat het nostalgie was. En vooral bij het sonic team heb je dat veel.)

Hmmm PS2... I'm tempted to get my copy of the Sega Smash pack and play it all over again...
Or I could hook the megadrive, but I already am at max on all 4 saving slots...

yea, the ps2 battle music is what I really noticed when BA was in ver.2 DC, as for the others, I think I should either plug in my megadrive or DC to play the game (haven't finished it) or download the rom and play it on my PC.... either way, I should be able to hear the other songs.

Some Club. Clubs.nl, it's like the Dutch version of MSN Groups! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif Right now I got 1-10 from PS2 Soundtrack...

And yes, Grass Assasins en Rappies were in the PS games, as well as (of course) Dark Force (Falz) and Fat (KING) Rappy!

I just thought about that the other day, that Rise or Fall snipits appear in tricktrack. Im gonna look for other snipits from other old PS games and see if they are in PSO. The only PS I havent played is the first one, so if I miss one, that is why.

Ironically, Tricktrack PART 2 also contains my all-time favorite original PS music track, "Phantasy Star Dungeon Arrange 1" from PSIV, which of course is itself an arrangement of a theme from PSI.

Another note that if you listen closely to Ep3 tracks, you will find some remixs in there as well.

That's right. I just listened to
PS1-Dungeon 1, which has the same melody as the VR Temple theme! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif Is that TrickTrack? I guess it was already mentioned by A2K...

The aforementioned "dungeon music" in Longing to Ancient Times Part 2 is from Phantasy Star IV's Air Castle.

I don't believe there are many, if any musical allusions outside of the two versus tracks and the ep2 stage music based upon them, though there is one song that. somehow, reminds me of PSO's Image of Hero. It's unfortunate; the Caves music could have used some inspiration.

Something else that I find interesting, is that Boomas and Hildebears are fairly similar to a few enemies found toward the begining of Phantasy Star 3. Boomas tend to remind me of the Eindons and Hildebears tend to remind me of the Moos you'd find while wandering around toward the beginning.

Courtesy of PSCave.com (http://www.pscave.com/)--
http://pscave.com/ps3/ps3e/eindon.gif
It looks a little stumpy, sure, but

And here is the first generation of the Moos, that I think the Hildebear *might* be related to.
http://pscave.com/ps3/ps3e/moos.gif
Compared to the Booma/Eindon, it's kind of a long-shot, on this one.

The Nanodragon, on the other hand, could possibly be related to this guy, from PS2--
http://pscave.com/ps2/ps2e/reptile.gif
That's a Reptile... Other relatives in PS2 include the Tera Kite and Kait Dragon.

Claws in the Ruins remind me of Scaley, here--
http://pscave.com/ps2/ps2e/scaly.gif
Scaley's relatives include Center and Hit Tail.

Here's an early version of a Pofuilly Slime--
http://pscave.com/ps2/ps2e/slugmess.gif
That's a Slugmess. Also in this family are the Jelly and Amoeba. Becareful-- they split!

Here's something similar to a Garanz, refered to as a Van in PS2--
http://pscave.com/ps2/ps2e/van.gif
There's also a version of this known as the Aerotank, as well as yet another version in the game data that doesn't appear in the game called "Vanleder".

This is called an Orangoo. Dragoon killed one of these in a zoo in The Recollection of Meira and The Recollection of Crankshaft--

Panarms was almost certainly inspired by Bladeright and Hankenleft seeing here to be merging into Twin Arms, from Phantasy Star 4.
http://pscave.com/ps4/ps4e/twinarms1.gif

Here's your Chaos Sorceror.

Seen as the Illusionst from PS4 (top) the Illusnst from PS2 (middle), and Sorceror from PS1. The one at bottom is the *definitive* Chaos Sorceror from PS4. This was the first enemy to have that specific name.

Shadowsaber here, could possibly be an inspiration for the Delsaber.

Where the heck are PSO's zombies?
(PS4)http://pscave.com/ps4/ps4e/zombie.gif
{PS2}http://pscave.com/ps2/ps2e/rabbit.gif
(PS1)http://pscave.com/ps1/ps1e/zombie1.gif

For that matter, we're missing these guys--
(PS2)http://pscave.com/ps2/ps2e/fiend.gif
(PS4)http://pscave.com/ps4/ps4e/le-faw-gan.gif

Here's some historical dragons for you.

http://pscave.com/ps1/ps1e/w-drgn1.gif
http://pscave.com/ps1/ps1e/gd-drgn1.gif
There are more, but those should look familiar to PSO veterans. All from PS1, from the top, Red Dragon, White Dragon and Gold Dragon.

A swarm from PS1, ancestor of the ol' Mothmant, seen again as Mosquitos and Bees in PS2, and last as MONSTERFLY from PS4--

We all know about the Grass Assassin. Not all of us have seen where it comes from. Take a look, from PS2 and 4--

Fanbite (PS4)

http://pscave.com/ps4/ps4e/grasshound.gif
Grasshound (this mofo was so big and nasty, it could only be fought from a vehicle o_O )

PS3 and 4 had Rappies, as well.
PS4-
http://pscave.com/ps4/ps4e/rappy.gif
http://pscave.com/ps4/ps4e/blue_rappy.gif
http://pscave.com/ps4/ps4e/king_rappy.gif
PS3-
http://pscave.com/ps3/ps3e/chirper.gif
PS3 actually had LOADS of Rappies of many colors (even a mechanical Rappy... Why some Orakian decided THAT was a good idea, I will never know). Unfortunately, as the animation of the enemies in that game was so incredibly uninteresting, no one has gained screen captures of anything other than the first one, seen above.

This guy looks like Episode II's Sinows--
http://pscave.com/ps4/ps4e/loader.gif
This is a Loader from PS4. There were several variants on this guy.

Canadine?
http://pscave.com/ps4/ps4e/gunner_bit.gif
A Gunner Bit from PS4.

This Slave looks like a RAcast.
http://pscave.com/ps4/ps4e/slave.gif

Chaos Bringer. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif
http://pscave.com/ps4/ps4e/centaur.gif
Centaur (PS4)
http://pscave.com/ps4/ps4e/horsman1.gif
Horseman (PS1)
http://pscave.com/ps4/ps4e/chaosbrngr.gif
Chaos Bringer (PS4)
The last one there obviously isn't a horse-dude, but that's the original "Chaos Bringer", anyway. He's related to the Dark Maurader family, which previously had only appeared in PS1.

The first incarnation of the Gal Griffon--
http://pscave.com/ps1/ps1e/mantic1.gif
Manticor from PS1.

Dolmolm--
http://pscave.com/ps1/ps1e/tentacl1.gif
Tentacle from PS1.

Now really, there are literally DOZENS of other influences from the original Phantasy Star series. More enemies, even (I've barely even scraped the surface of Episode II... Deldepths bear similarities to several enemies from PS1 and PS4). Many of the weapons that can be found are historical pieces from Phantasy Star (Rika's Claw, Nei's Claw, Heart of Poumn, Club of Laconium, Psychowand, etc). "Numans" first appeared in Phantasy Star 2, and I'm honestly quite surprised that there is a lack of Muskcats in PSO, as the only other game to lack them is PS3, which is really the odd one out of the bunch.

So, yeah, there's quite a bit of inspiration to be seen here.

There are many songs in the Spaceship. Which makes me love to play that stage. Just for the Music, mainly for the "Rise or Fall"(I think). My brother and I would just sometimes wait for that part to play and then we'd kill the enemies.

But, for some strange reason, I get the feeling that: "Abysmal Ball-Banquet" sounds like the boss theme in PS4...that is, like only 4 notes or whatever.

Music for Episode 2 is better than Music in Episode 1 in General. I also noticed how they use some themes (such as Jungle a Lush Loud and the Forest Theme) from Episode 1&2 in Episode 3! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif Two of my favorite songs heehee!! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif
