You cant conect the modem to the gamecube, you need to use something called Internet conection sharing (ICS)
you also need a spare ethernet socket on your P.C, most P.Cs have them built in, but some dont.
look on the back of your P.C for a socket thats the same one as you have on your gamecube BBA.

Basic set up for windows XP
Start > my network places then

you need to go to the set up a home or small office network bit, select this computer conects to the inmternet, others conect through it and follow the instructions.
0n your gamecube you need a BBA and a Crossover ehternet cable it must be a crossover as a normal/patch/straight lead wont work at all.

the gamecube settings are as follows:
everything on automatic.
to tet it all works, switch on your P.C and you will see the double monitor symbols
http://mysite.freeserve.com/mybasicuploadsite/ics.jpg
switch on your gamecube and you will see a message saying local area conection conected above one of the monitor symbols.
connect your P.C to the internet, then go online on your gamecube.
you ned to make sure that you dont have a screensaver switched on, as this will break the conection.

You don't need a router (or hub) if you use ICS. Make sure you get a crossover cable to use and not the standard cat 5 ethernet cable otherwise it won't work.

If ICS doesn't work instal NAT.
It works on all win OS's.

If iyouve got windows98se your in luck, if it just says windows98 as far as internet conection sharing goes, your up shit creek without a paddle., unless you want to fiddle about trying to get a NAT program to work.

go to add remove programs in the control panel, windows components or something like that and it should be in there somewhere.

your other option would be to buy a combined modem/router, these are quite cheap now, and can be bought for as little as 40pounds.

a NAD is often used as an abreiviation of Gonad.
on win98se ICS is set up using the add/remove programs in the control panel, go there and select windows componenst and it should be in one of the options there.
heres a site that may be able to help
