But, seriously, this is a good question, but such a hard one to answer !!

Well, I'll state my opinion...
Primarily, looks, most people will think that this is secondary, but you cannot deny that it is the first thing you see, and most likely the 1st thing that will make you feel attracted to a person (although internet may slowly change this...)

Capacity to having long, interesting conversations, without one boring the other.

Humour, the girl should have humour, a lot. I'm serious like 1% of the time, too serious a girl would have a hard time with me.

Having similar opinions on crucial issues where open-mindedness won't help, like : religion, abortion, politics, having kids or not, etc.

Sex is an important matter, if you do not fully enjoy having sex with your girl/boyfriend, that will undeniably ruin your couple.

Common interests are very, very secondary. You do not have to listen to the same kinda music, like the same movies, etc. If a girl/boy says so, they do not what they are talking about -- even Homer knows this, even Homer !
But having none is a bad thing as well =/

She must not be a pain on any matter, if your girl/boyfriend can annoy you, this is a bad sign.

On all matters, always listen to her/him, ask what THEY want, make their desires your goal.

Oh, and I wanted to add "someone you can stand having breakfast with". If you have found someone that meets this requirement, keep them !

I would say...


1) Someone you really like from your heart not just his/her looks.
2) Someone's personality that is really like yours and that you can still well with (according to my brother's experience: if someone is innocent they are also ignorant! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif)
3) Someone you won't get into a fight a lot because of you two's different opinions.
4) Someone that would help you when you are in trouble and vice-versa
5) MOST IMPORTANT someone that actually will like you back when you like them. Or if they don't like you it's basically pointless!
