Cant go to Ult in offline multiplayer

Hi.

a friend and i have been going to eachother's houses for a little while now, and we've made new characters, and succesfully got them to ultimate mode (offline). after both of us individually beat VH ruins, we were a bit eager to see what ult could whip up for us. however, during the multiplayer set up screen, the difficulty ultimate remained grayed out.

if anyone knows why we are unable to proceed to ultimate mode offline in multiplayer, and a possible reason of how to do so, it would be appreciated. i appologize if i put this in the wrong forum, but i found that this one would be most fitting

Same as online, you both have to be level 80.
