isn't the powerboard the one with that's like an expanded keyboard with the controller buttons on the side for the gamecube? I need to know which one cause i think i'm going to start really trying to get my parents to let me go online when i get EP3, which they have said i will get. So if i do get online, i'll want a kewboard, and need to know this stuff.

No, that's the ASCii (I think).

The powerboard is the purple one from Datel.

I heard the symbol buttons are messed up a bit, but the actual letters are fine on the Powerboard one.

Powerboard (http://us.codejunkies.com/shop/product.asp?c=US&cr=USD&cs=$&r=0&l=1&ProdID=167)? I've got one, its works well enough for me and it only cost me twenty dollars at a local store. SOme of the buttons don't display what is on them (mostly the shift buttons on the numbers, you know, 1 changes to !, 2 changes to @). I've heard about other people's keyboards overheating, but mine never has. Its a full sized keyboard that was cheap, it does what I need it to.

the powerboarrd has symbols in the wrong spots, making it harder to do stuff like make smiley faces. but other than that, it works http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_yes.gif

I never got the power board because I thought it was same with any normal keyboard so I just got a adapter and it seems to work fine. What is so special about a Power board anyways? http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

You can make faces. I believe the colon on the powerboard is where the asterisk is on the numberpad.

All in all, the powerboard sucks. It's a European keyboard with a PS/2 Adapter, and generally there are some major translation issues fromt he keyboard to the system. As said, a lot of the keys don't function the way they are supposed to; Some don't function at all. But, for $20, what can you expect? If you have the cash, I HIGHLY reccomend you shell out the extra dough for the ASCii keyboard. Otherwise, the powerboard will suit your need for everyday typing, you just have to get used to the abnormal placement of keys to type smiley faces.

I payed $120 for my ASCII keyboard back in December of 2002... and man do I ever feel stupid now... heh, I wish I had keys that actually fit my fingers... I'm tired of always typing things like "ctraop i csnt kikl hin]" because the keys are too small... eh, at least I got a controller on my keyboard.

I have a Ascii keyboard that is currently holding up a very VERY important pile of junk in my closet.

Eh...maybe to Ebay with it.

Gameshark makes a kb for the gamecube thats a little better than the Datel Powerboard and the mapping is correct.

Its been out for at least a month or two that I know of. I know someone who has one and its quite a bit nicer than the Datel Powerboard (both in features and durability.)

The Keyboard/controller, Sord, is made by Sammy, I'd fetch the URL but I;m a lazy SOB right now.

wow, GameShark's got a KB now... probably worth the extra cash over the Datel PowerBoard... many of the Datel PowerBoard's adapters are defective, such the one I got... and later replaced with the PS2/PS2 adapter.

Small keys = Evil.

Hmm, I have some sort of generic keyboard adapter thingie a friend gave me. Just a keyboard adapter, it's a black box with warning stickers against unplugging the KB from it while it's plugged into the GC. One end has a standard beige cable with a female plug to put a PS/2 connector into, and the other end is an indigo GC controller cable. The keys are mapped correctly, except that occasionally after about 3 or 4 hours of use the symbols start being the other funky mapping. Unplugging it from the GC and reconnecting it fixes the problem immediately. *shrug* Only issues I ever have are if I've got my language settings on J, sometimes if I switch to roman characters I can't get back to kana/kanji input. But I don't usually have my settings as J(Usually because my friends then tend to spam word select at me instead of talking. XP I can read -some- Japanese, but not a lot, heh.), usully just for setting shortcuts on characters and playing around.

The best thing, of course, about a plain old adapter is that you can take your normal keyboard you're used to using and use that. No tiny keys or keyboards with crappy key feel. x.x

*goes out and buys one* There's like 3 left in the store... only for $25. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

By the way, if you looked at my previous topic 'Radioshack Gamecube Extension' (in this forum)... it doesn't work for me (well with the natural keyboard), but I can feel heat coming in probably because the resistance is causing the current to be small for the keyboard to turn on. ;_;

Sharkboard is so awesome... though there seems to be a small mapping problem. The apostrophe and the quotations don't work well with it.

Plus... when your a female character you can do female moves, but when your a male character you can do male moves and female moves (using shift+control then a letter)... I can't do male moves with my female character... unless my keyboard doesn't work...
