Time to tell my pitifull story...

Anyways I'm in high school and I play on girls single and mixed varsity. I really need help on mixed teammate. See my teammate for mixed is really bad and we always lose http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif I mean most of the JV boys can beat girls on varsity but he can't) It was the coach who put use two together (don't know what is he thinking?!) So is there a way to tell the coach or him to make him switch? I mean I really don't want to be rude and hurt his feelings and stuff to tell him to leave, any ideas?

Does winning or losing have any impact on your ability to achieve something later on?

Maybe your coach put you together with the person so you could help them get abit better?

If you insist, talk to your coach and ask why you were put together. Heh, but in the end, if you don't want the person on your team just because you're losing(and if there really isn't a penalty for losing, nor anything to achieve by winning) then you are sort of being rude, because you just want to win and you want as best a team mate as you can get so you can win. =|

I mean like it kind of affects me, since I really want to be the girl captain of the varsity team in my senior year. But if I keep on losing and coach keeps on seeing it I might not be able to become captain:( I wish I could say like "you know what Jerry, you suck, and your making us lose so much so that I can't become captain next year!" But I just can't say that, I'm really not that kind of a person...http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

Well, where I live there is many asian people so there was actually a badminton team.

Losing to a girl is pretty sad, if you made the cuts for JV boys. MOST of the JV boys can beat MOST of the varisty girls. And if you are a varsity guy you can beat EVERY varsity girl. Pretty sad actually. Since my partner and I are in mixed varsity, *sigh* all because of me.

I'd set up some sessions for you to help him one-on-one with his faults. It's way nicer than asking the coach to switch your partner.

Badminton is a sport where the movements rely more on the movement of the wrist rather than the arm. That's why girls are natural.

Most girls have more flexible wrists than boys, except for those "special cases".

Yeah, I used to lose to girls all the time. That's why I entered tennis http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_mad.gif

Not my point http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_no.gif what I am saying if you read it carefully is that MOST guys can BEAT all the GIRLS. Only SOME guys can't beat girls. So basically your suppose to be able to beat a girl. But he is just so...ya. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

i fail to see how gender could effect badmiton, unless all the guys spike the shuttlecock or something.

Why don't you just stab him?

Really??? a badmiton team, never heard of that, like a ping pong team? I play on the tennis team and there are crappy people that play tennis and i have to play doubles with them, but i don't make a big deal about it. I think it is impossible for your partner to improve unless there is a massive amount of practice on his part, because there usually aren't any quick fixes in tennis, but i'm assuming that the same could be applied to badmiton.

Love to, the thing is he can't smash http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif either it gets caught on the net or it goes out or it's no low enough so the other team smashes it back and it usually hits me -__-

AHA!

Finally solved my problem! I talked to the varsity coach and he said he will change a partner for me after I told him my story! YAY! So happy, now maybe we our school can actually win some mixed matches! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

badmiton is one of the few sports i played in PE that i enjoyed. i was gonna sign up for trying out in the team, but i realized i just suck at singles at it.

i always played front and loved doing hairpin dips and watch the other team bust their knees in trying to save it. my partners were always in the back court keeping up a heavy rally. because i'm tall i just extended and dipped (never smash - it's so vulgar)the shuttlecock just over the net. i'd steal it from the volley so often that the opposing team would always set up someone close to try to rescue.

and though i dug the concept of badmitton, i could never get into tennis or volleyball. tennis = there's so much needless running, no fun. i just wanna gently volley for a while. and volleyball = the ball hurts my wrist. it's so hard, why can't we use like a beachball or something?

and dammit those guys for always spiking/smashing the ball in these games?! it took out all the fun! i swear, your in the middle of some gossip or chit-chat and some fool boy had to go smash the damn thing near you. naturally, first reaction is to flinch away and cower. i swear sometimes they did it for fun...

Ehh, are you sure you want to play front? Playing front is usually the weaker person of the two considering that the person in the back have to have enough strengh to clear the biredie all the way to the back of the opponent's court (which is very hard) I play front in mixed because I'm a girl! And why don't you like smashing? Smashing is so fun, I would always jump smash it at someone directly to make it impossible to return z http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif So evil! Hehe, but it's the only way to win if you are playing against good people!

We played badmitton for like 2 weeks last year in pe. I was soooooo bad at it. No one was any good.

Is there at badmitton league? Anyway I think you should help your temabuddy instead of shunning him from the badmitton socity! Give him growth hormones or a robot arm or something.

never liked smashing, just wasn't very fun. it's kinda like a trump card, except there's unlimited use of it. after a while playing boy teams were boring, they were just downward swinging arms after a while. when every other hit is a smash you have to save smashing gets old fast.

but yeah, about my partner, she always took back court while i took front. i was the weaker player. she could reliably clear that thing across the court! i barely had the accuracy, let alone the strength, to clear the half the time. often she'd get paired up with another good back court player opponent (half the time boy, half the time girl) and the other front court player and i would just start smiling and shrugging. and sometimes we'd start chatting, letting them duke it out in the back court volley. and then when they least expected it i'd tip the birdie onto their side http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

most of the time my partners were girls, and they played very well. usually they were the girls who could take on boys and reliably win too. it was a good mix. they played, i chatted, and occassionally tipped the birdie for a point. good times, good times
