Im Having The Oddest Problem....Help needed

I recently bought the gc bba I hooked it and connected the problem is that it connects and all that but when Im in the lobby and everyone is talking the messages just disappear and when u type nothing appears like the connection is lost and the counter when u join games If I choose join game or change block it gets stuck and the little window doesnt appear ,the oddest thing is that the modem light blinks when I move like is processing that info when I type and hit enter too.
Today I bought a router thinking that may solve the problem but it doesnt do anything.Im thinking that maybe its the cable modem or the gamecube because I can play 56k but not the with the bba.

Who is your ISP?
What type of broadband is it? Dsl? Cable?
What brand is the router?
Have you run any tests to see if you are having any significant packet loss? (do that HERE (http://www.broadbandreports.com/tools))

My ISP is Adelphia,and its cable.I'm from Puerto Rico but I don't think that's the problem.The brand of the router is Dlink.
