PSOW Congress

PSOW rules can be annoying sometimes, it's hard to interpret them from time to time. We should make a real PSOW government http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Okay, the mods will still have their power though, but it would work like this.

Step 1. Mods start thread where people may vote for a nominee for Forum Topic Representative. Lets say that each Forum Topic gets 3 representatives. The requirments for nomination would be a clean record (no warnings), and they must be a frequent poster in that forum, as well as know the rules.

Step 2. The mods make a thread in each Forum Topic, taking the nominees for that forum's president, and put them in a poll in their respective thread. Everyone may vote for a representative for that one forum topic.

Step 3. Once the Forum Topic Representatives are elected (by popular vote), they will debate among what can and can't be put in what forum topics. They will then present the outcome and solution to the mods, should a solution come along. If the mods do not favor the solution, then they may reject it. However, if 2/3rds of the Forum Topic Representatives still choose to favor the solution, then it overides the mods decision, and becomes a rule, or whatever.

Acording to this goverment, it's a bit based off the U.S.'s (so i'm wondering what all the U.K.ers and Polish and what other nationalities are thinking about this.) The U.S. government is run by three branches.

Legislative/Congress= this would be our Forum Topic Representatives

Judicial= this is the mods

Executive= this would also be the mods, however, congress could submit canidates to become mods, but it would have to be a 3/4ths vote from congress, and should the mods refuse, then they must present the reason why, and a recount will be taken, since this is of greater severity then a rule intepretation, that is why I chose to suggest a 3/4 vote. We don't want some power crazed idiot messing with things. Also, should a rule need to be changed, it would go through the same process of Congress debating over it, presenting solution to mods, if they approve it, it becomes a rule (or depending on the case, a rule is taken away.) If the mods reject it and say why, but the Congress still has a 2/3 vote on it, then it bypasses the mods.

Any ways, the irony to all this would be: Would the mods even agree to allow it?

While the idea of Democracy is nice, I don't see it happening here.

do you know how tedious that is? do you know how much more that would lengthen our mod action processes? that would add a lot more for me to juggle. as it is, our rules are adaptive to the forums and things come up on the fly and needs attention right away.

an idea like that has been brought up before and the negative points outweight the positive.

as it is, everyone on the staff has an equal vote and say.

it's utopian, you don't fully realize where this will lead and how this will lead into individual interforum arguments. you would need a team that is dedicated, focus, works well together, mesh well, mods with appropriate personalities for the forums they manage and thinks for the greater good of the forum as a collective not as individuals. we have no personal agendas. the above will lead to favorism, popularity contest, personal agendas, and tension.

i want a mod that is fully deserving of his or her job and one that is fully capable and can work together as a team and realize that psow has rules and you have to leave your emotions at the door. i don't want mods picked just because people like them. this will lead to disaster.

On top of that. I say no. And I say no because this isn't "Virtual World", this is PSOWorld. A site about pso. We aren't trying to make a reality for you guys, we aren't trying to make the perfect world. We are just trying to make a functional website that we can deal with with our alotted real time that we can actually give. I and the rest of the staff really don't feel like being part of any highschool democratic simulation games. Make a message board community for that if you want.

Best not be Boron. :S Depends on who's reactors you are talking about. Russian, and Soviet type reactors used plain concrete and steel casings and some graphite control rods. Basically just lead, graphite, steel, and concrete. All of which is not very good for a little Rappy tummy. :< Especially since it would require about a 12" thick layer of the stuff.

Ah yes, back when I did'nt have a life and my only problem was missing dinner due to needing sleep...or my Admin needing contracts done and I would schedule him to drop them off so I could do them at my leisure and not lose my already backward sleep schedule.

actually, the A-DTPA and DTPA just signed a treaty not to keep nukes in FKL, no other parties were involved, thus we can still have nukes here, excpt for members of the DTPA and A-DTPA
