Well, I'm orchestrating half of the main theme, a battle song, a sad song, and a scary song for a manga/anime thing my friend and I are in the process of writing, and I was wondering if anyone played violin and had some ideas. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

If you sound like Yellowcard, you stink.

But then again, I thought they had a fiddle player, but isn't that basically a violin?

stick to classical (time period) type sounds with violins, everything else hurts

Quiet all of you. Bands that throw in non-traditional instruments in (ie. instruments not usually found in a rock group) rock. Like the mad orchestrations on some Oasis tracks. (To be fair, I saw the Yellowcard video... the only redeeming quality they have is the violin... otherwise, it's just a standard punk band.)

But uh, yeah... I play the violin. Well, I haven't since last year, but I'm sure I still know one or two things about it. Unfortunately, I'm not quite sure what you're asking...

Please, if you really want a violinist, make sure it's a good one! If they're good, they're very good, but if they're bad, they're terrible...

You could always compose some of it on the computer? Warm strings are usually a good replacement for a violinist.

I don't really have anything to compose music with other than my pen, staff paper, and trusty pen. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif no computer programs or anything...http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

The old faithfull way eh? That's the good way if you ask me. Just sit infront of a piano and find out things by doing. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Well I'm a fiddle player, not a violin player. They're a difference. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif Besides, I'm not that good.

See if you can find some music by Aaron Meyer. He's a concert violinist that playes a combination of classical, modern, and new age (usually all at the same time). He does some pretty interesting original scores as well as renditions of classics. And if you've never heard an electric violin, then you definately want to hear what he can do. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

Yah, they work the same way as an electric guitar. Just plug 'em into an amp and play.
