MUHAHAHAHAHAHA, for DREAMCAST PSO!
Just kidding. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Anyway, is there anyway I can set up my computer to be my own server? Right now, I'm using Yahoo! Webhosting to host my files online, and it would be really nifty if I could ditch the $11 a month fee and host the files from my PC.

I have Windows XP Pro, and I know IIS can be installed, but I think thats only for intranet, not internet.

Can anybody provide me details on how to do this?

NO IDEA.

However, why not try http://www.aloofhosting.com instead?

IIS works for the internet just fine. I host files from my computer at home, so that I can download them on my computer at work.

Then again, my ISP also provides me with an actual IP address, too; rather than just a local IP.

Still, unless you've got a killer broadband connection (like, extreme high-end cable, which can brush dangerously close to a T3), then a home-based web server can never substitute for some rented space on a good professionally-maintained webserver.

You have a point there, but thinking about it... its not gonna be that big of a strain to host my sigs on my own computer then pay someone else $11 a month to do it. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_yes.gif

Hmmm.... I don't want free servers either since I hate space restrictions. I could care less about bandwidth, its the space I prefer more.

Unless you've got a fairly decent computer, you'd be surprised. I've got a Pentium II at home myself, and I wouldn't even consider hosting my sig off of it for two reasons:
1. If six or seven people look at a thread I've posted in once or twice, my computer is going to freak.
2. Just anyone could look at the properties of your picture, and discover your IP. Which is not good.
