View Full Version : It's official-- Sammy Hagar has returned to Van Halen.

They're back together, and going on tour this summer!

I'm extremely excited-- they'll be in my city on August 14th!

There is no w00t potent enough to express the way I feel about this.

ill believe it when they actually start the tour. they joined up a while back on one of the award shows, and that lasted like an hour or so. but if they are back, for real this time, good. this will make all there fans(and obviously you Meira)very happy:smile:.

They did an MTV awards show with David Lee Roth immediately after they broke up with Sammy. As the story goes, Sammy went to Hawaii to see his kid being born, had an argument with Eddie on the phone, and when he got back, the band was practicing with Dave. They never booked any shows with Dave at that point, though. Only that awards show. That was it. This time, we've got concert dates and locations. This is the real deal.

Rumors do indicate that they plan to put out another Best Of album and a new album after the tour, but there's been no official confirmation concerning that.

It's also worth pointing out that the band has been silent for the last couple of years because Eddie had cancer.

They broke up with David Lee Roth in '85, I believe. They broke up with Sammy Hagar in '96.

Oh, and Auto... Dave was very good, yes... But Sammy is very good, as well. Van Halen fans tend to prefer the lead singer they heard first. I prefer Sammy, myself. But Dave was indeed, very good.

I heard Sammy first. I was not impressed at all. I think I may have liked two songs he did with the band. I didn't actually start liking Van Halen until I heard Roth's stuff. Those are the real classics...
