I obviously dont speak for the online PSO gamers but Fonewms are scary. At least, that is my reason.

HUH? what are you talking about?! I always see FOnewm on GC, or maybe it's just that I play on JP ships and they like FOnewm better or I don't know. But they shouln't be that rare to see.

Reason why you may not see many FOnewms online:
1) Many people are thrown off by their looks
2) They specialize in attack techniques, and those can cancel the damage done by other party members (at least FOnewearl has some support tech bonuses and Piercing Megid and the FOmar and FOmarl have support technique bonuses and can melee fairly well)
3) Enemy resists are high online and in offline multiplayer, making it hard for FOnewms to do much damage.

I think its because they are weak so no good for melee and people would prefer fonl because they have much better MST
