The thing about cloning is that every fairly intellegent life form is made of two parts, one you can clone and one you can't yet.

The body can be replicated with cloning (but as you can see clone-kitty there has different colors--this is due to the various conditions inside the ma-kitty while the clone was forming...for animals these things affect color)

But the original circumstances/how it was raised and the memories of the original won't be reproduced in the clone. That's why cloning Hitler isn't too dangerous, even if you did do it, it wouldn't be exactly the same guy, or probably even a -dangerous- guy because you can't raise him the same.

But, you've got a better chance of your less-intellegent life forms such as cats and dogs really really resembleing the original because their raisings and personalities are more simplistic. There aren't as many complex things in their lives to shape them, as there are with humans. (Their brains most likely containing the same pre-dispositions and tendancies as the original, with which to affect their personalities "I prefer fetch over tug of war" "I prefer landscape art over abstract" "My favorite color is purple" where do we get such opinions, they are not taught to us and identical twins tend to share them with eachother)

But, more power to them! I like science.

yo Creinus_Man, this post is a nice thought but it does lack some thought also. i mean i would like my 11 month old kitten back, but to clone it, it would require about 3 or 4 other animals to die just to do this! and that is just the sciencetist's testing to see if they have got the DNA codes right. then another 2 would die to produce the perfect clone of your pet!

Don't forget that a clone lives less time, since the dna is from an elder being.

That way, if your pet dies, and you get a clone, you have to relive the hurt all over again when he dies....

Just let them rest in peace. I think they (pets) deserve it as much as anyone.

Umm, no. These clones are created by splitting and splicing an egg. So the resultant clone child in this case will be no different than any other naturally born one, besides the fact that it shares 100% of the DNA of it's mother.

I heard about that. I wouldn't want to do that it'd be too weird if the cat turned out different somehow. My cats can rest in peace. Sanji loves her kitty a whole lot, so maybe she would. >.> <.< >.>

Cheep, Cheep, Cheep. We all know Peaches is an immortal demon cat http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_yes.gif All of that aside, if she were to ever die like her sister did. Now I miss Cream. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_cry.gif I would not clone her, that is too freaky.

It doesn't look it! They're progressing at a phenomenal rate, and pretty soon I have a feeling talented people (i.e. famous singers, sprinters etc.) will start to be asked for their concent for their DNA, in attempts to create a perfect baby. My guess is 20 years from now...
