Co-op in the JP Servers. I'm Very Scared!! Since they are different players than the US People are. And theres certain things i heard that happens during JP games i need to know.

And what if they speak in Japanese and expect me to respond! @@; Errrr!

Is there a way i can overcome my little fear?

I don't know much above JP games. I've only played in a few JP games (outside of challange mode) and I felt kind of ackward playing in them, almost like I was intruding.

As for things they do in their games, I know that they leave unneeded items at the door to the next room, but I don't know much more than that.

I thought that you were supposed to just drop stuff at the door to the next room, but I could be mistaken.

Rare boxes, yes. Leave them be until all enemies have been eleminated. Then, after discussing with your teammates, choose who is going to keep rare. That, in my opinion, is more fun anyways. Grubby people taking the rare I called anyways is plain rude. I am sick of that. They pull off this gameplay easily, why can't we? Also, all materials, grinders, techniques, and rares not claimed, or disputed over, are dropped on the Pioneer 2 floor. Then claims are made and people continue playing. Both ways are played. I find both fun. More fun than the way many non-Japanese players play. Also, always state if you find a red box. This way it informs the other team members of the find and discussions can commence on who gets it, should you not claim that is.

The problem with discussing it with your teamates when you are playing on a JP server is that......Most people can't speak japanese, although that does sound like a good way to divy up the rares in the US version too. As for grinders and materials, alot of the people I have played with online simply ignore or run past them. They must not need them since they already have the best weapons in the game fully ground and max stats, which is fine with me, More for me!

Thing is, often times, at least one person will speak a little English. Just be clear and patient in your messages and they will be glad to help or talk. I have a couple JP friends and they type English than over half of the people online with their language set to English... And yes, people do tend to leave behind grinders and materials for some reason. I pick them up as well. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

I keep gathering materials, but the only ones I use are the Mind and Power ones, so I have a plethera of pinatas Defense and Evade materials. If I don't get an S-rank here soon then I'm going to have to make a character to hold all my grinders too...

I've played with the Japaneese a few times, but like most people here, I've always felt like I was intruding. I've seen some US players come into JP games.. even if they are legit.. make total asses of themselves by spamming stupid stuff and not adjusting their playstyle to the flow of the rest of the team.

I've always wanted to avoid looking like a "Stupid Gaijun". Comming in and asking them "Anyone here speak english?" is something I refuse to do. I mean.. I'm in a JP game.. I should be the one speaking Japaneese - not expecting or assuming they speak my language. I just play - ignore all items - help them the best I can.. and try to just stay as low key and respectful as possible. Many US gamers in JP games with me assume I'm Japaneese as well.. even though it should be obvious that I'm not.

The divvying of items and rares is a system of play I would prefer while playing online. The problem is that I always have this paranoia that someone will just grab the items they want and run off with them. In a team of four there could be a substantial chance of this occuring. For this I often pick up as many of the rares as I can and then try to divvy them so that people don't take them without consulting the others. Of course, since I don't have a keyboard, I more often than not take a good deal of heat for doing this, even if I stated it ahead of time (different people log in, etc.)

I have played a few games on the JP server, as well as teaming up with some Japanese speaking players on FFXI. Automatic translators are your friends. Make good use of the word select. You can even set word selects to your shortcuts, if need be. I highly recommend doing so. Make a shortcut for the word select "Please use WORD SELECT". That helps a great deal.

Just remember, using a shortcut like:

Hello.
>Everybody/one

is preferrable to:

Hello.

Since it makes it clearer to the people you are talking to that you are using word select.

I speak little japanese, though I haven't played on Japanese servers. When doing Cmode with friends, we went to the Japanese servers if anyone could help us. In return, we helped the person who came with us. Sadly, she got the wrong Srank wpn (got a twin and is a fonewearl), so I gave her my double saber.

I rarely don't know the ettiques that the Japanese people do in the Japanese servers and that's why I don't go over. I know teamwork and communication is a good point to start with, but when you can't communicate or forget what the shortcuts are... then you're screwed.

Btw, does a lot of japanese people know romanji? Like 'konnichiha, konbanha, sankyuu' I've typed in Japanese (oi, strange strange) and I'm not sure if it's inputting the correct kanji, for I only know a hundred.

Omg playing on a jp ship is the best! I don't know what it is, but it feels different than on a US ship, different in an exiting way. I guess it's because you can't understand each other. I am a FOmar, and it may be a little bit better for me because I take a support role, so it's good for me to be on thier team. It was real cool when after half a game, one of the jp players started to say ty after I s&d. It kinda seemed like we broke down a wall...

Japanese players are just normal players, they all don't follow the same rules and are'nt all uber legit people who live by a set of rules. If you don't understand them just say "I don't understand you" and keep playing.

"wakarimasen" http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif ou "sumimasen, nihongo wakarimasen ;-;" (that's about all I use anyway XD)

I agree with Guile, but bear in mind that the vast majority of Japanese people are very polite, just be polite and respectful.

I used to play on Mintaka a lot, and as long as you are respectful and polite, they will accept you.

It may not be much but just say "hello" "good to see you" "thank you" (if there is a force, thanking them every time they heal you, etc. is welcome), and "sorry I must leave" will be appreciated.
Also always "is it ok for me to join?"
All of this can be found in Word Select, if you cannot find the last one (tricky), in Japanese it is "isshoni asonde mo ii desuka" (navi will correct me, if I made a mistake http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif ).

I have come to make some friends on Mintaka, even though they generally despise "E" players, I never was rejected and some even really like me http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif (they speak English, obviously, sometimes not that well, but still better than my Japanese http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif )

There's no reason to be afraid though, they don't bite http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif they're very nice, well in my experience.

Hehe. Ya know Tingle.. I speak Japanese, and it is still a bit scary for me to go on a run with Japanese friends. One of the reason being it is usually a JJEE combination, so on top of playing I also need to be translating. It is a bit hard on my nerve. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif And sometimes I can't respond as quickly as I'd like, or able to say exactly what I mean.

... But. It is fun. A lot of them are nice curteous people. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif
