Hello, I'm a newbie. Just started playin' PSO recently and I chose a FOmar.

My question is this:

How does the character name effect section ID?

Like say if I wanted YELLOWBOZE but my name gives me ORAN, is there anyway to go around this?

no. you'll just have to tweak the name a little to make it turn out Yellowboze. There is a section ID program in the downloads section that you can use to enter different names and see what section ID they will be.

I guess I'm content with ORAN. It's too bad the FOMAR class cannot use daggers.

Actually, there are 4 Daggers FOmars can use.

Twin Chakram, P-Arm's Blades, S-Berril's Hand #0, and Akkiko's Wok Set.

Oran is the only ID that finds Twin Chakram. It's quite a useful weapon for melee FOrces. Your FOmar would probably do quite well with one.

And if your FOmar prefers casting? Well, Oran also is the only ID to find Prophets of Motav, a powerful wand type that adds like 65 MST, and boosts RA-techs 20%. And, it looks like a book. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

I can't sit back and just cast spells. Gotta have the piece of the action.

Trance & tricks and more...that's why I chose a FOMAR.

As for TWIN CHAKRAM, I can't wait to get that. Don't know where and how but will somehow find it. Aside from PSO, I also play D&D and I've chakrams as weapons.

Oran is an okay ID for FOs. They can find casting weapons, PoM, and meele weapons Twin Charkams.

Yeah, melee FOmars are really fun. It's a nice challenge after toasting everything with my tech-using FOnewm.

Oran gets Twin Chakram from Tollaws in Ult Forest, or Sinow Zoas in Ult Seabed...I'd try to get it from Tollaws.

Section IDs are calculated based on the name you give your character. Each letter, number, symbol, even a space has a value. Adding all the values together determines the section ID based on the value of the last digit as follows...

I would strongly caution against using Oran Section ID at all...it's VERY weak in good rares, IMHO...

I say this from experience...I have retired my 138 Oran hunter because of lack of interesting rares and remade to SKYLY...

It is true that Twin Chakram is an exclusive Oran item finding, and while it is quite good (the Hell isn't that great once you get into ULT however) that item is a real pain to hunt, as it comes from Forest Tollaw...it's a hard one to find in my experience...

I was level 130 before I got one, shortly after that I retired her...

Yellowboze is good. But for a FOmar, I would have choosen Redria or Viridia. If your not hooked on being spell-casting, don't choose pinkal.
