in challenge mode when me and my pals play we always find this card looking thingy that stands out of the ground and says someones name. does this tell who is doing bet and what else dois it do????

That sounds like a grave to me. A grave will appear for for a character that has previously died in that level. It will have the character's name and if they said anything it will also have the last thing they said as well.

Graves will sometimes contain items such as monomates, dimates, trimates, monofluids, difluids, and trifluids. In some games players will die so that a grave will appear and give them additional items.
