Yeah, good to know it's going for something worth while, since, you know, the kids surely would'nt get any money from their mother for schooling.

Oh well though right? I mean, ANYONE can win the lottery, it's really just funny when someone who's already well-off wins.

Why was she playing the lotto? Her daughter is FREAKING LOADED. I mean, either she's a gambling addict or JLo won't give cash to her own mother.

...it was a $1 lottery, and people gamble for fun, that doesn't mean she has a gambling problem at all.

Funny that someone who prolly doesn't really need it won, but so what? The lottery is for everyone, it's luck of the draw, she was there at the right time and won.

Theoretically, rich people should win more because they can afford to buy more chances.

I think it's funny that the article pinpoints the time and slots she was playing. Because it's so important.

[edit: What's even more funny is that they don't even seem to know whether it's really Jennifer Lopez's mom or not. Just the same last name, from the same state and about the right age. But People and US are going to say it's true, so therefore it must be.]

On the local news around here a few months back someone who owned the store where they purchased their lottery tickets won the jackpot and were paid extra for being the store where the winning tickets were bought.

There should be rules against that type of stipulation.

Owner of the lottery machine can't play it or something.

wait people gotta be a gambling addict to play the game? she can't enjoy herself and play it just because her daughter is rich?

so? they're a lucky family and have been blessed. congrats to them for winning the game. so what if they have money, they're still lucky for it and i'm sure they're grateful.

so she won? so what? why should you judge her when she did nothing wrong and won on pure luck? she's less deserving in your eyes because her daughter has money? why, do you deserve the money more? the homeless down the street? well the game is not won based on whomever deserves it, it's based on luck. and she won fair and square.

why would it be a waste? for all you know she might spend it well, invest or donate to charity. but we don't really know right? and you don't either. and yet how can you judge a person you do not know? just because they're rich, they can't fully appreciate the money?

and if someone really needed the money, then they shouldn't be wasting money on lotto tickets and gambling, now should they?

man, so freaking what? just she's jlo's mom it skews the whole viewpoint for all of you. funny? infuriating? pathetic? a waste? that's just because of your viewpoints. she's not judging all of you for judging her is she?

funny people...

congrats to them and their family and nice luck! that's all i can say. and the daughter worked for her money. least she was smart.

I don't really see the big deal in J-Lo's mum winning the jackpot at a casino a big deal at all, because she played the Wheel of Fortune game fair and square, got lucky, and won a lot of money.

Fair play to the lady.

Grateful? How can you appreciate something you already have so much of? Maybe we have different viewpoints--but appreciating money when you have so much is more like...indulgence?

just because they're rich, they can't fully appreciate the money?
It'll buy JLo a nice piece of bling-bling, anyways. Then she can go into the studio and make songs on the evils of money.

That Jenni from the block sure is a trooper.

I never have agreed with casinos in the first place anyways. Today they're ran so efficiently that it's basically robbery from the second you walk in--calculating all the probabilities on the machines, etc.

People like to dream big though, and that's what casinos/lottos feed off of.

Wow?! Really?!?!?! IT IS BASED ON LUCK?!?!?!?! HOLY SHIT I THOUGHT THE LOTTO WAS BASED ON WHO GOD CHOOSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes. I know she won it fairly. She could donate it to charity, what she does with the money is not the point. The point is that an already rich person gets free money, it annoys me. You are looking too deeply into this.

Now this topic is annoying me more then her winning it. THAT is funny.

You know, I'd just like to point out that there's really no reason why any of us should even care that J.Lo's mother won this money. I mean really. What does it matter to us that she walked off with a large chunk of a casino's cash? Who cares? It's not changed her status much, it's not changed ANYONE'S status much, and the odds of that money having gone to someone else aren't much different. The very fact that this was even reported on a new website is evidence to the fact that we're all a bunch of fickle, shallow freaks who get jealous of people who have more than us, and want to know every last detail.

Leave it alone! It's about as important as an ant sneezing in Africa, for cheese's sake!

How annoyed do you think I am? I am not losing any sleep over this or giving it any thought after this.

My thoughts when I read it were: "Oh, that is quite lame."

You seem to find it shocking that this will "upset" people rather then go "Oh good for her!". I find it shocking that people can say "Oh, good for her!"

Edit- Just want to make this clear. Nobody is that mad about it that they want to take up arms and kill the Lopez family. Nobody is that upset, nobody cares that much. This was intended to be a topic to just show the luck of the world. Or, how the rich get richer.

i don't find it shocking, it happens everyday, everywhere. i find it silly to have that kind of attitude stemming from jealousy and cattiness like meira said as well. i don't see why it would upset people, and i'm not saying people are having strokes either. i'm saying it's silly that people feel negative about it. doesn't affect anyone else's lives.

and hey good for her. happy for her. more power to her. and the world keeps rolling on.

If that were the case then wouldn't make a topic for every single lotto winner and complain about how I should have won it and not him or her? Hmm, maybe I will start doing that, being the shallow jealous person I am.

An average Joe wins the tlotto, good I am happy. A guy who is just making it, better. "Good for him!", I say. When a rich person wins it, sorry, just can't be happy for someone who gets free money when they already have all they need.

Yeah LollipopLolita, the world will keep turning. She has it, she doesnt need more. Let someone else have it. Fell indifferent, feel mad, feel angry. But happy and glad? I just can't see it.

I've heard this phrase before:

"Give a normal man on the stree a million dollers, and he'll waist it all, give a businessman a million dollars, he'll double it, and even if he loses it, he'll get it back"

Fact is, Jlo is a business woman. She is providing a service (entertainment) for a price. She gives her money to her mom, and she uses it wins 2,000,000 dollars, sure it's luck and fun, but Jlo has enough money to double the amount that's put into the casino, woop dee doo. As long as your not doing cards of some sort, chances are if you make the right moves you can double your money, even in a casino.

But there really isn't too much difference, either way they'll end up having more money than you.

No, you know, I really don't see that happening.

Bill Gates has more money then her and me, together, mulitplied so many times. But her having millions or billions or trillions isnt really the point of the post. The fact that she has millions and got a couple more for free is the point.

The topic wasn't meant to cause anger or hate, just to show the shit luck of the world.

i don't think "shit" luck would really be the best term, maybe "the irony of luck" or something. Just because a rich person wins something and a poor person doesn't, doesn't make that luck shit.

It's really a moot point really. It doesn't matter how much money someone already has, it was luck of the draw and they got it. Fair and equal, the way it should be.

Fair and equal in your eyes? It doesn't seem so.

Wait till you're old enough to gamble and then have at it. MIGHT GET LUCKY!

Asked them what? I don't just mean JLo's family; I mean everyone. If you appreciate money when you already have so much--and don't even need it, I call that indulgence/greed.

Understand what about money? If I have millions and go win a million on the slots it's supposed to over-complicate my life?

You're right, I don't get it.

She can spend her money however she wants--it just doesn't score points in my book that she sings/writes about money and possessions being second fiddle to the important things in life.

I don't have a problem how she spends her money, I'm just not a fan of fake individuals.

If you appreciate money when you already have so much--and don't even need it, I call that indulgence/greed.

I thought greed is when you excessively feel like you need and want everything. She just won it, that's not greed. She wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary. Everyone gambling would be greedy then.

Gambling to for the purpose of making money doesn't work. Most people who gamble don't do it for the sheer moneymaking prospects, they do it for the suspense and all. They call it "entertainment."
