Anyone at PSOW play guitar? Just curious about what model everyone plays, and maybe the preferred style.

As you can tell by the sig, I have a Fender, Stratocaster.

Yeah, that's about all I do to fill my days. I play all kinds of stuff, but on my own I play kind of a bluesy metal type stuff. It changes a lot... sounds kinda like if john petrucci picked up a slide (though nowhere near as... difficult... yet...)

I just got a new rig though, and I'm completely in love with it.

Schecter 006 Elite and a Mesa/Boogie Rect-O-verb quarterstack. I'm in heaven.

I've got an Ibanez RG 470. Haven't been playing much lately, though.

I have a five-string Ibanez bass, that I use to "rock-out" to all my favourite bands like; Corn, Limp Bisquick, Lounging Pool, Healing Plan, and Panera. Man, I simply can stress how "awesome" those bands are. Not to mention that other group, that sings songs about falling and about how the world is chalk full-o zombies....I think they're called "Chick'n'Park".

Hot stuff. Hot stuff, indeed.

i have a four string Ibanez bass with a epiphone neck and these really cool looking gold strings that i got from a friend. but that one is just for fun.

i have a seven string true custom bass by Pat Delitato made from twenty guage aluminum with an oversized neck. thats my baby. truly, this thing is just heavenly to play http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif (and difficult as hell)

dont ask how much that custom cost though, you might be let down.

I have an older Dean (don't know the model) and an Ibanez IceMan. It looks sorta like the guitar Adrian Smith played on the Iron Maiden: Powerslave album.

I've got some sort of generic acoustic guitar... I've not invested much in my equipment. Even still, my guitar skills are mediocre, at best.

Still, every once in a while my creative urges lead me to tinker with it. I accidentally got inspired one day, and wrote this (http://www.therecollectionsaga.com/Media/RequiemForRandomness.mp3). Just kinda odd... Every once in a while, something just appears in your head, and you must create it.

What would you lot say is better, a fender p-bass or a encore bass?
And whats better out of a kustom bass amp or a fender bass amp?

I like it!

I, unfortunately, cannot play the guitar, regardless of how many people tell me that it's just like playing the piano.

I have an Ibanez 4 string, since we're on the subject of basses now.

Good topic! I have a Squier bullet (haha its pretty cheap), but even though i have a cheap guitar, I am the lead guitarist in a band so yeh. I really want a Fender Stratocaster, I envy anyone who has one of those bad boys, haha ^_^

Yes, if you like Squiers, a Fender would be a good indstrument to "move up" to, it would be money well spent.

I'm currently looking at a Gibson SG Voodoo

Or Les Paul Studio.

Any reccomendations if anyone has either of these? I'm leaning towards the SG because of the looks, and it is slightly cheaper than the Les Paul.

Be sure to go see and play both of them at a guitar store. Pictures and descriptions can't tell you everything YOU need to know about a guitar, since you have your own style (and they look a lot different in person).

The SG's are thinner than les pauls, and made from swamp ash for a really low weight, but a slightly thinner sound. Both guitars have custom pickups, but I've never heard the Voodoo pickups. I'd guess they're probably higher output with less midrange response. The LP has the standard gibson al-ni-co.

I assume you want black, but the SG's black is a lot more interesting with the red rubbed in. The SG comes with a snakeskin hardshell case.

Also, I'd advise against buying online. My friend and I both bought our guitars from Musician's Friend and they both came damaged. Mine was really minor (rear coverplate was scratched) but my friend's was rendered useless. He sent it back and they lost it, so they refunded him and they went elsewhere.

Just a few tidbits I thought you might want to know =)

Good luck man.

I've already played the LP, but none of the stores around here seem to have a SG Voodoo. I like how the LP plays, but I'm going to wait until I get to try the SG.

I have an american series Fender Stratocaster.
Id love to have an old vintage Telecaster though, old guitars are just beautiful...
