Okay, I've seen many people asking about the purpose of keeping a Lavis Cannon untekked, lately, and there is no guide to it, so here it is :

The special attack of the Lavis Cannon is a purple penetrating energy wave that consumes about 5% of your max HP that has about 60% the power of a weak attack and the low accuracy of a special attack.

Now if you do keep your Lavis Cannon untekked :
1) the special will not be visible, i.e. as if it was an invisible wave.
2) the special will not consume your HP with each shot.
3) the special will have the power of a hard attack, i.e. about 4 times as powerful as if you had tekked it.
4) the special will have much higher accuracy than tekked.

Important note: this will not work with PAL European games, the glitch was fixed, an untekked Lavis Cannon special attack on a PAL game is the same as a hard attack, there is no "invisible wave", players like Rena-ko and myself cannot use this glitch http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_cry.gif

Hope that covers your questions.

The 60% damage to a normal attack you mentioned, i refer to as the typical special attack damage, its like when a special does not work, but hits, like for example if Blizzard does not work, but you hit the enemy, than you get this amount of damage dealt. Not saying youre wrong, its totally correct, i just refer to it as that, because theres a certain way to calculate it and it works with all weapons that deal special attack damage.

4) the special will never miss.
Why does everyone say that the special of an untekked Lavis Cannon never misses? Yes, it is much more accurate than a tekked Lavis Cannon's special, but it is entirely possible to miss with an untekked Lavis Cannon's special attack.

lol, I'm not blaming you or anything like that. I was just wondering where people got the idea that the special attack never misses.

Special attack of a Lavis Cannon is a glitch. And that glitch makes it to not miss.

How good is the special anyway?

I would say it's very good, if you mean the one of an untekked Lavis Cannon: never miss, does damage of hard attack, it hits multiple enemies, vice versa...

It would obviously do pretty good on a Lv 140 character who can use it. An untekked Lavis Cannon special attack hits multiple enemies that never miss, this saber have great style, but you like mechs better? Wow.

I know for a fact that the special of an untekked Lavis Cannon can miss. I have found 2 and both are untekked and I have missed using the special attack.

And Cheep, continue with the mechs! The special is good, but personally I still feel thems charge mechs are still my favorite weapon! By level 140, I think sabers should only ever be used when going back levels (i.e. to Hard/Vhard) to find some item that you may want. Other than that, stick with the mechs! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

I added it to my sticky (which covers the most common questions, and some important things about weapons). Don't want too many stickies to flood this forum.

Saber Animation + weird foreward wave thingy
It's very similiar to a agito 1975(oroagito) wave thingy
i'm speaking of the similiar animation and the wave.
If the thingy penetrates, you might be able to abuse it like a slicer or something. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

I'm wondering, if the "US player" have got a Lavis Cannon (leaving it untekked) and give that weapon to the "EU player" (who have PAL version), will that untekked Lavis Cannon of "US player's" still have the glitch with the "EU player" weilding it? If not, can the "EU player" see the glitch of that untekked Lavis Cannon from the "US player" weilding it?

It doesn't matter which version you find the Lavis in. It will always have that glitch in the US version but not in the EU version. When a US player uses it, everyone will see the same thing, since all it would do is hit all enemies and containers in range, without a visual affect.

is it the same for a double cannon or lavis blades?

What if the "EU player" who uses the PAL version use the special attack of the untekked Lavis Cannon that is given from the "US player" that is obtained in the US version? The glitch won't work to the "EU player" unless the "US player" is the one using it even though the Lavis Cannon itself is obtained in the US version?

Auracom has an untekked Lavis Cannon, Auracom has the US game, Auracom found his Lavis offline in his US game, Auracom went online with his US game on a US server/ship, I entered the team, tried his Lavis Cannon, it does not work.
I lent him mine, it works for him.

It comes from the game and how it is programmed in the PAL version i.e. the glitch was fixed.
