Chapter 1
Shots ring out through the forest. It is raining more heavily than usual. The sun is setting casting an eerie greenish orange glow about the forest. Shadows dance about on the ground as the shots ring clear through the otherwise silent forest. Screams are now heard and the shots come closer. There is confused yelling, then thunder in the distance. Then... Silence. Nothing, no sound, no breeze, no changes in the atmosphere of the area.

Suddenly a small child runs out of a large open room with a photon shield at one end and a large, thick, and rusted door at the other. He is but a small boy, light brown hair, fair skin, and the brightest blue eyes on anyone. He carries with himself a miniature photon saber. He is running from the door, panting, panicked. His breathing is erratic. He glances back through the doorway he had just come from. The beast was still there, lumbering, growling deeply, uninjured, and angry.

"Hildelt..." the boy says quietly. "I have never seen one before... I should have listened to them... I should never have gone down here... And now... Now he is gone... Gone to that, that, monster..." The boy breaks down and cries. He realizes that he will never see his friend alive, and that he may end up with a similar fate should he not leave. But should he leave, he shall be in even greater trouble than he already was in. He is in a never ending pit of despair. Four years it had been, four long years. His parents had gone aboard the Pioneer II ship, four years ago, when he was but four himself. Once they reached Ragol, being the hunters they were, they gave up their lives to attempt to clear out this planet of the hostile life. They failed, they were ambushed by a large horde of enemies and were slaughtered. This day was that of the fourth anniversary of their deaths.

His friend had been his same age, the youthful age of eight. An age that should not have to worry about fighting for survival, an age that should be wrapped in the youthful world of games, of playing all day. Not carrying a saber and gun. But no, that is not the way it is here, here aboard Pioneer II the children are trained as hunters. These boys were similar in that both of their parents had been killed, in the same mission.

Children are not allowed to transport down to the surface of Ragol, due to the horrible dangers that could destroy even adults, let alone small boys. The training is supposed to start at age ten for humans, not eight. These boys however had trained secretly, for reasons yet unknown to anyone. They had gained access to the training simulator, which was, and is, a huge breaking of rules, especially for children destined to be great hunters. Instead, the one child perished, before even seeing the beauty in this hostile world, before seeing the place of his parents' deaths. And the other, may just share the same fate.

The small boy stands up, wipes the tears off his face, as if to ward off any embarrassment in case he should be found. He looks down at his small photon blade. It is many years old, it belonged to his father. He turns it over to look at the bottom, "VS" is carved roughly into the shiny silver metal, his father's initials. This particular model is known as a Gladius to the hunters of Pioneer II. The blade is that of a glowing yellow color. This particular one however has a special attribute to it, Chaos is what it is called. This is the only reason this child survived. He had confused the enemies by striking with this weapon. This had caused them to see multiples of everything, causing them to attack each other in accident, and fear. The boy turns off the saber then sets it on the ground. He then pulls off his small computer console on his arm. He records a brief message stating why he was here, and sets the console on the saber. He then walks slowly into the room with the Hidelt, thinking, knowing, that this will be his last day.

Chapter 2

The rain continues to fall in the forest. The sun is nearly set. The door to the room is open, the small boy is slowly walking into the room, thoughtless, not caring his death is coming, coming through being beaten to death by a Hildelt. He closes his eyes, waiting for the first impact. Seconds pass, he grows nervous. He opens his right eye just enough to look around. The Hildelt just stands there, staring at him. The Hildelt slowly moves it?s great heat towards the boy. The boy can feel the Hildelt snort, blowing hot, moist air at him. He closes his eyes again, waiting again, waiting for the impact.

The boy notices the beast's breathing get quieter, farther away. He opens his eyes to see the creature begin to lumber away, away towards the dense forest beyond. The child begins to get angry. Why did his parents die? Why did his friends die? Why have so many died, but not himself? He collapses, exhausted. He cannot stay awake, all these emotions, work, and trauma were too much. He falls into a deep slumber, and the sun quietly sets, allowing the beautiful ocean of stars to slowly come out, one by one. Somewhere out there, was home, a true home, a safe home. But for this boy, forest was as safe as he could get right now.

Day dawns. The forest rain had stopped the night before, allowing a beautiful sunrise, bright, golden hues come through. Fresh dew coats the leaves. The creatures begin to awaken. El Rappies awake on their nests, to play with their young. Bartles and Tollaws search for food. The sun begins to stream through the leaves of the trees, casting golden shadows across the dew-covered grass. The boy awakens, alive through some miracle. He is coated with the dew of night and he quickly brushes it off. He stands erect, stretches and contemplates the day previous. He hangs his head, the feelings of the previous night paining him beyond words. He then wonders if his equipment is still sitting where he had placed it, beyond the door. He slowly approaches the door, then it slowly opens, creaking, vibrating due to the extreme usage of it, and of its age in this damp heat. Just as it was, the saber and console were set as they had been, coated in the cool morning mist. This morning was a bit foggy, a cool breeze flows through the natural hallway. It sends chills through the child, who was still damp from sleeping through the night on the ground in the dew.

Suddenly the locks reset on all the doors and a very loud metallic clanking noise is heard as this happens. The boy drops his things from the startling noise that broke through the tranquil silence. He can hear one of the other doors in the distance slowly grant entrance to someone. Startled at the thought of someone discovering himself the boy runs back into the room, this time, the Hildelt was back, with a friend, a Hildetorr. The boy is uncertain of what to do, his friend who had died is still laying over near the beasts, who had yet to catch the sent of the boy. He is uncertain whether to let the Hildes kill him, or to allow the person, or persons, to find him. He sneaks into the shadows behind a large photon gate, and waits for it to take it's course.

The door to the room reopens, someone is standing on the other side. The boy is shocked at who it is, but stays silent, as the Hildelt slowly approaches, with the Hildetorr not far behind...

Chapter 3
"Oy, Lin, somethin' is off 'ere today," says a woman dressed in a green uniform topped off with cavalry pants and a red beret. She has short, fine, grey hair. Her hair naturally colored grey from a rather young age. Her hair does lead many a person to take her much older than she really is, and her rather thick accent just added to this confusion. Few people know her true identity, one of whom was her android friend who was walking along side her, silent and alert. Those who did know of her called her, 'Artillerist,' or simply 'Art' for short. One thing known of this mysterious young lady is that she is a master of guns as well as close physical combat. Her deep green eyes reveal little of her story as they are often covered by sunglasses. Though appearing harsh, her personality is a bit giddy, almost childlike. But in the heat of battle, she hardens into a fierce, emotionless gladiator. She, being trained in tradition is a master of the foil. Her history in swordplay is shrouded in mystery, but one thing is certain, she is one of the, if not the master of short swords for her particular classification under the Guild standards. Her heritage is also full of holes and mysteries, except of course, to her closest comrades. Her handle is German to express her expertise, gunnery. Though a master of foils and short swords her true might in combat is her uncanny proficiency with guns. Rifles, handguns, bazookas, and machineguns, she can handle them all with the greatest mastery. Wai Lin is a bit less mystery however she still has her own secrets.

Wai Lin is an android. Tall, thin, attractive, and deadly, she takes all missions seriously, and all threats even more so. She, unlike Art, is more of an expert at large broadswords, katanas, daggers, and bare fists. Wai Lin is one of the newer android types, a HUcaseal. Even as deadly as she is, she wears the color of purity, white. Speaking little, saying much is how her personality is. Due to her abilities she is able to wield swords larger than herself with great velocity, thus rendering whatever used to be in front of the sword, now in pieces below. She however specifically prefers using twin blades, such as large poles which she can spin at rates and angles which would tear a biological being?s arms straight off. Also in this group is the twin swords, her favorite class of weapons, along with the smaller version, daggers. Brilliant strategist, poor leader make her an asset to whomever is leading the party she is in, normally Artillerist. Though seemingly cold to most, she does have emotions. She will reveal them over time to people she trusts, however the only person she is truly open with is her partner, Art.

"Yes, the forest is quiet today, someone or something else has already defeated much of what has spawned," came Wai Lin's monotonous reply. She continued moving forward slowly, careful to be quiet, as did Art whom just nodded confirmation.

An object shines in the now under the apex of the sun?s light. They stand there, looking at the objects laying at the door. Art loads more shells into her large combat shotgun. Wai Lin readies her photon made twin swords. The door slowly opens creaking with strain. Art squints at the sharp contrast of light, the bright outer area and the now rather dark interior. Then she spots the first signs of movement, a Hildelt and Hildetorr. She tightens her grip on the casing of the gun. Wai Lin nods confirming the visual contact. Then, out of the corner of her eye, Art spots a small boy, just sitting there, staring at her. She knows the boy, and knows that he will likely die should something not happen very quickly.

Art and Wai Lin run into the room. Wai Lin engages battle with the giant ape Hildelt. Artillerist however attempts to take out the Hildetorr from afar, thus limiting the risk of being bashed about by the creature's fists and horns. The creature tilts back, as if it is going to sneeze, and lets loose a blast of the dark megid energy. The room instantly smells of death, the stench of death and of evil. Another blast of megid narrowly misses Art and slams into the wall behind, instantly withering the plants on it into piles of brown rot. She readies her aim quickly and fires three shots toward the beast, each hitting the specified target, two to the head, and one to the gut. The beast screams in agony as blood spews from the wounds and as it is blinded by its own blood. She fires once more, this shot also in the stomach. The beast lets out one last pitiful moan and drops to the ground with an intense thud.

The two women slowly approach the child, who was in the same place he had expected to die. He just sat there, hugging his knees with his arms, his head resting gently on them. Artillerist bends down into a squatting position to be eyelevel with the child. Wai Lin continues her ever neutral expression and continues scanning for any signs of life. The boy slowly stands, bows his head and walks slowly to where his friend lay. Artillerist stands and turns to watch. The boy begins sobbing profusely, emotions spinning his mind in every direction. He eventually cries himself to sleep with his face on the chest of his friend. Artillerist nods towards the children and Wai Lin nods in confirmation and gently lifts both of the boys up into her strong, never tiring arms. Artillerist closes her eyes and casts a ryuker spell. She soon disappears in the telepipe that was formed. Wai Lin follows suit, and the telepipe disappears along with her.

Chapter 4 coming soon! Hopefully sooner than chapter 3 came...
