Mericus Where?

Whenever I do CCA: Jungle I always encounter the Mini-Boss Mericarol. I am trying to fight Mericus so that I can get a pair of 'Bloody Art' from him. (Hard mode, YelowBoze).
How do I fight Mericus? Is there anything in particular I have to do or is it random?

mericus & merikle (as well as gill & epsilon) are quest enemies..
they appear as normal foes in tower quests for online & pso+

Ah poo, Now I can't get my Bloody Art until V.Hard Ruins.
