I just noticed that Prima put out a strategy guide of PSO Episode III, if anyone bought it:

a) Is it good buy?
b) Does it have nice piccies that I can scan?
c) Does it have any extra artwork?
d) Personal opinion of the book.

Nice x3 post, man!

Anyway, It has a few errors in it, easy to point out, though.

I got it mainly for the card listing.

My rating is about a 8.5/10

Sorry about the fricking triple post... I kept getting a database error from this site something to do with ASP (Apache).

Some nice artwork, good (small0 pics of the art of most of the cards. Horrible advice and data. If you want it for the pretty pictures, go right ahead. But it's not worth it if you're looking for any decent card advice.

I see... any rough estimate on how big the card art is? Btw, thank you on deleting my repeated posts.

I'll scan a sample page, but only one. Don't want to be hit by a lawsuit from Prima. >.>

Click here, won't be up long. (http://www.phantasycard2.com/guide.JPG)

One thing that irked me about the Prima Guide was no detailed information about card specifics. That and saying that they have all the off-line and on-line quests for Ep3.

Shame, Shame Prima. <thwacks them with a Harisen Fan>

First 15 pages arent that bad... though I want to see the card art pages... oh well, I'll take a look when I visit a video game store. I usually buy game books to replace my suttle agrievances for an artbook... and if anybody wants anything scanned, I scan things to death!

Hehe.

A) Kind of.
B) Nope http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif
C) Nope http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif
D) 4 out of 5. Not a bad strategy guide at all though. Like looking at the pictures of the cards.

Okay, I just went out and bought myself a stategy guide. It's not bad, though I haven't read it yet. The pictures are way too small for me to scan. Images scanned at 450 dpi gives you that newspaper grainy stuff, but it has those poses that you see on the character select screen when choosing the SC for your deck.

I bought the guide a week before pso 3 came out, it helped when I didnt have the game, so once I got the game I knew exactly what to do, now all I use it for is the card listings

Arislan. Since I know you also have the Ep III JP guide, how is the Prima guide compare to it? Is it more updated? ... Any reason I should also be getting the Prima guide?

If you want information on cards, it has an equal number (Prima has Toy Rappy and Chao info included, while the Softbank has Dremaga and Pofuilly +). The Softbank card section is layed out much nicer, in card number order, rather than rarity, so it's much easier to find the card you're looking for.

The information in the guide isn't that great (Prima). The suggestions for deck strategies are relatively poorly thought or "duh, of course" type strategies. Of course, the sample decks in the Softbank aren't any better.

All in all, if you can read it at all, the Softbank complete guide beats the snot out of the Prima Guide, leaving the Prima guide only useful in it's pretty pictures. Even with just basic katakana knowledge, you'll likely get more useful information out of the Softbank, if you've already played the game and don't need the Prima's starter tips.

Ah. In that case, money saved! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif
I loved my Softbank guides and I don't have trouble reading it, I do have a little thing about not knowing what things are in English, and hence can't convey my information well. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

How much is the Prima anyway?

It's not too bad... it's a good basis of drawing the characters though. I want the softbank one... I need to scan some images. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif
