Best of the S-Ranks

Which of the S-ranks are, for the most part, more worth getting? Tonight I think I am gonna do c-mode online and go for an S-rank. Also, please refrain from posting links to their stats (I can find those easily anyway) or saying "get what you like." I am looking for popular opinion of their usefulness.

Oh, and one more thing. Don't act too confident. You make it sound like "I'm going online to get a srank"

The problem with the cmode nights is that nobody actually shows up for them. Better to get a team together through player matchup forum, your friends or hanging around Alcyone 6.

I cant say much for the episode 2 S-ranks as I only have the swords right now.

Ones to get:

Sword: slightly less powerful and accurate than a red sword but with zalure special is probably better. In my opinion the best S-rank for ep1.

Twin: great weapon for a force, but why not just find a demo comet for a hunter? They can be found pretty easy (1/2 from mil or red slime depending on id) and have much more atp. Will also save you 250 grinders.

Saber: at maximum grind has great power, even more than the red saber. Only consider if you have the grinders to spare.

Swords: Not bad but most people would say why use twin swords when you can use twin sabers? Overall the power is pretty good (50 more atp than asuka at max grind) but unfortunately the ata seems a little low (5 less than asuka). Very costly in grinders (full 250). Stick with yamato with high hit%.

Ones to avoid:

Mechgun: +20 to ata, what can I say? Utterly useless in ultimate for any hunter or force. For rangers there are much better options. Custom special is useless due to lack of ata. Stick with high hit% vulcans.

Slicer:

Although the ata is not terrible most slicers are already useless in ultimate due to their low ata. The fact that this wepaon can never have hit% makes it pretty worthless. Note that grind is only 140 (150 is typo in database). Go for the magic rock iritista, you won't regret it.

I missed out S-rank partisan. Being the most powerful partisan in the game it probably deserves a mention. I just feel that swords are far better in this game (way too much of an atp advantage). Yes, Axe has saber combo and yellow photon. Is very unique, since regular axe has the lousy sword animation and not so good stats.

The Sword is the strongest S-Rank, as is very useful to any hunter who doesn't have a Red Sword and is looking to be able to solo most levels.

The Twin is great for FOmars and FOmarls (If you've got one up around level 120) because it adds 550 ATP, making it the strongest weapon they can use.

The Slicer and Shot are handy because you can put Zalure on them and hit all kinds of enemies with it. I've found that Zalure (as cool as it sounds), is only worth it on these two weapons. Even on the Sword and Partisan, they aren't worth it because you if you use the swing that you apply Zalure with to attack instead, you'll kill the enemies faster than if you had used the first swing to apply Zalure and then attacked. I hope this makes sense.

I got an axe last night. It does indeed look like Victor Axe with yellow photon, but when you attack with it, it moves like a saber, i.e. much faster. (Although it still makes the sound of a sword) It's quite strong too, and very accurate.

Time for Wazzy's S-Rank Review Thingy (TM). I've never used any S-Rank Weapons, so I will be using my general PSO knowledge and the stats of the weapons to determine their overall usefulness.

- Episode 1 S-Rank Weapons -

Saber: Fully ground, it adds 650 ATP and 50 ATA. A pretty nice Saber, all around. Almost as good as Red Saber, but with custom special. Useful for melee FOrces.

Sword: One of the best Swords in the game, it adds 700 ATP, fully ground, and 35 ATA. Great for any HUnter character.

Blade: A very good Dagger. It adds 410 ATP at max grind, and 35 ATA. If my memory serves, it's slightly stronger than Red Dagger, but not as strong with Shifta. Better for soloing with Droids.

Partisan: ATP-wise, the strongest Partisan. 40 ATA and 410 ATP. Slightly less accurate than Red Partisan, but significantly stronger, and with custom special. Very nice. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

Twin: Very much like Demo Comet, stats-wise. 540 ATP, 40 ATA. Excellent for melee FOrces or RAngers. Pretty good for HUnters, too.

Claw: One of the stronger Claws, but since it looks almost identical to Photon Claw, and the fact that the much stronger Morning Glory can be used by just as many people...

Slicer: Not a bad Slicer, especially with Jellen or Zalure special. For actual damage dealing, you're better off getting a Rainbow Baton.

Gun: Nothing fancy, just a rather strong Handgun for non-Rangers.

Mechgun: Bah, useless. Only 20 ATA, and no chance at Hit. A set of Vulcans with Hit are better for non-RAngers, and RAngers are better off with something like Red Mechs or Yasminkov 9000M.

Shot: Probably the best Shotgun weapon. Similar stats to Final Impact, but without variable ATP. Throw in a good special (Zalure), and you have the best Shotgun in the game.

Rifle: A great Rifle, in terms of damage dealing, and nice ATA boost, 60.

Cane: Totally worthless. Weak, innacurate, and only 5 EVP.

Wand: Still pretty worthless...at least it adds 45 MST.

Favorites: Sword, Blade, Partisan, Twin, Shot, Rod.

- Episode 2 S-Ranks Weapons -
Bazooka: S-Rank form of Inferno Bazooka. It shoots like a Shot, but only one bullet that's quite strong. Not bad, but would be more useful if other characters could weild it.

Needle: O__O; Possibly one of the BEST RAnger weapons ever, this puts most Shots to shame. It's a tad stronger than Spread Needle (which it's the S-Rank version of), but no variable ATP, and no lowered EVP. Get one with Zalure, and your RAnger will lurve me.

Scythe: S-Rank form of Soul Eater. Presumably much stronger, and with custom special. Nice for melee FOrces, but an S-Rank Partisan would be more useful for HUnters.

Hammer: S-Rank form of Toy Hammer (itself an offline S-Rank prize). Cute, Katana-type weapon. Looks spiffy, hopefully will have a decent max grind.

Moon: S-Rank form of Summit Moon. Much more useful than S-Rank Cane, this cool-looking little thing adds a nifty 35 MST.

Psychogun: S-Rank form of Twin Psychoguns. Same stats as S-Rank Mechgun, but even MORE useless. It can only be used by non-droid HUnters and RAngers, and can only have C-Rank custom specials. Looks very nice, though.

Punch: S-Rank form of Rocket Punch. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it has the animation of a Mechgun, but only shoots out one bullet. Probably not that useful.

Windmill: S-Rank form of...Windmill. >__>; Very similar, statistically, to S-Rank Moon. Probably better, since more characters can use it. Sucks that you can only get C-Rank specials on it.

Harisen: S-Rank form of Harisen Battle Fan. A fun Katana in Fan form. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif I'd personally go with Hammer, though.

Katana: S-Rank form of Orotiagito. Looks just like it, but with custom special and whatnot. It'd be nice to see a Katana without the Hell special, heh. @__@

Swords: S-Rank form of Mushashi, Asuka, etc. Slightly stronger than Asuka, but slightly less accurate. Looks cool, but I'd rather use Asuka, or Yamato with Hit.

Launcher: S-Rank form of Photon Launcher, Red Scorpio, etc. Apparently it ADDS 5 EVP, that may be a typo. Red Scorpio is stronger, I think, and has a chance at Hit, so...

Cards: S-Rank form of Talis. Really more of a style weapon, but not too bad. Better than Cane, certainly. O_o

Knuckle: S-Rank form of Brave Knuckle, Angry Fist. Bah, C-Rank specials only, plain-looking...go with Angry Fist or God Hand instead.

Axe: S-Rank form of Victor Axe. Sounds like a Sword, but has the animation of a Saber. A bit stronger than Red Saber, but 1 less ATA. Looks awesome! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Incorrect. The average ATP of a fully ground Spread Needle is 135.5. The Fully ground S-Rank Needle adds a consistant 150 ATP. Thought it probably changes with Shifta.
