Iron Phoenix for the Xbox looks like it would be a rather amazing game...looking at some of the screenshots, it looks as though you use magical weapons to beat your enemies into a pulp, in this brutal brawler...so far it looks worthy of rental...definitly. But will it deliver?

IGN states "16 player action fighting over Xbox Live". If this is true then it will definitly be worth a try.

For the record, any metalic bird won't fly. as for the game? I say any third person hack n' slash game's success relies purly on it's gameplay and plot. mabye voice acting, too.

I just wondering if it's button friendly.

oh, yeah. button-freindliness does help. but mostly plot.

Actually, I'd say that plot has very little to do with the success of action games. Look at Tomb Raider; it was successful because of boobs. Furthermore, I never hear of rants or raves concerning the plot of Onimusha, but yet, it's been quite the successful series because you get to swing huge swords around at crowds of happless soldiers. Just the same, the plot of Metal Gear Solid was not the point of sale for the game, but rather, the fact that the entire idea behind the game is to kill people before they notice you're there. The same thing goes for the Tenchu Ninja series. You generally don't hear a lot about these games' plots, but the appeal of the action involved is most certainly what sells them.

I should think that fighting games serve as a good example of why action sells games far more readily than plot does-- After all, even Capcom has yet to effectively figure out how to string anything more than an extremely simple plot into a fighting game.

Now, if there is ANY genre that has a history of relying on plot to sell a game, it's the RPG genre. You can only get so far with boobies and pretty graphics in the RPG genre (though a little eye candy does add some appeal). Without a good plot in the RPG genre, the RPG is destined to only be bought by a few, and left as just another name in someone's collection of games.

...And the objective of the game was to get the camera into interesting angles for all the horny teenagers out there.

Personally I hated Tomb Raider...after the first one it got old really fast. It's a classic, but they lost me after the original.

Anyway, Iron Phoenix will be very interesting with it's 16 player xbox live multiplayer fighter feature*

same here, man this thing is going off topic. I've never heard of this game, mostly since I don't keep up with news and such. It it Xbox only, or multi-consol?

In this months Official Xbox magazine...they claim you can fight in the air and run up on walls and jump atop buildings like the movie crouching tiger hidden dragon...and seeing 16 players in one massive map performing ultimate combos while battling in the air is going to be one sweet experience. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_yes.gif

To quote John Carmak, creator of Doom- 'Story in a game is like a story in a porn movie. It's there, but not really neccesary.'
