I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, so no whining ok? It'll get moved if it's not. 'nuff said.

Is there a way or knack, to stop the quality of my images decreasing when uploading onto the net?

Not sure If I worded that right but I'll put it in another way. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif
Say I have this lovely image saved on my hard drive and then I upload it. The difference is quite substantial... and not in a good way.

Any tips?
Wouldn't have anything to do with my webspace would it?
(It's provided by aol. Please don't give me another reason to hate them.)

Your not changing the format of the picture as you upload it are you? If your making an image as a Bitmap, then sva eit for uploading as a JPEG or a GIF you get considerable colour and quality loss (espcialy when changing it into a GIF).

Otherwise im not sure why its changing.

I've uploaded images both as JPEG and GIF before on numerouse occasions, but it never seems to make much difference.
It's usually luck if there's no decline in quality. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

try www.photobucket.com and upload an image from there. it's free. The only problem is that it resizes any picture larger then 250k.

http://www.uploadit.org

Its free, and it doesn't reduce your image size.

Yeah, but uploadit has a nasty habit of only accepting jpg images.
