Hello all. This is my first post in the PSO world, and i just stumbled upon this gem of a game about 4 months ago. And as i am delving deeper and deeper into the strategies, i am considering myself more and more of a newb. Now, this said, I have a question for you all. I had the great luck of getting a Demolition Comet from my first Pouilly Slime, with bonuses 0/25/35/0/0. Now, i do have a Puplenum (lvl 90 Fomar) and was wondering if it would be worth it to go for the lavis cannon? Also, what do you all consider to be the best Hunter weapons? I really like my Demolition Comet, but I am really curious as to what the absolute best weapons are. Being that I'm relatively new to the game, your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

Lavis Cannon? A Demo Comet is much more useful than a plain Lavis Cannon, most of the time...but if you want to make a Double Cannon, shoot for it. And when you do, make a Redria character. Getting Lavis is much easier there.

For a HUnter? It really depends, but in most situations, a good DoubleSaber or Daggers, some Mechs with good percents, and either a Slicer, Partisan, or Sword.

You can do wonders with a Demo Comet, Gungnir with Hit, and some Vulcans. That's what my HUmar used for the longest time...

Your best bet to getting a Lavis would be with a redria. The drop rate would be 1/22 from a Pouilly Slime (red one.) Purplenum drop is far more difficult with a drop rate of 1/28808. An untekked Lavis Cannon makes an excellent rare as the special won't use HP.

BTW I agree with Eihwaz, the Double Cannon will be far more useful and do far more damage. You just need an Oran to nab a Syncesta. The Ult. Hildetorr has a drop rate of 1/22, which is the easiest way to go.

It doesn't include pictures like PSO World, but it DOES have hard data on the actual RATES of drops, such as the Lavis Cannon being 1/22 from Redria and 1/28,808 in Purplenum.

...quite a difference, eh? You can go your entire PSO-playing life without seeing a single 1/28K drop. I've seen ONE, and it was a Milla from Whitill. Talk about lucky...

Thanks a bunch for the help people, but to try to steer us toward the right course, i was thinking more along the lines of specifically what item would be best for a Hunter, more for my curiosity than for practical purposes. Thanks.

There is no one best item for HUnters. There is always a situation where you will need to have a different type of weapon than your main one.

It is best to carry around:
Gun/Mechgun
Sword/Partisan
Double Saber/Daggers

Those will cover almost all situations.

Well, with my HUcast I try to carry around
1) Red Handgun and sometimes high hit % mechguns
2) Demolition Comet (or when I get it Double Cannon)
3) Red Partisan / when I get a Rainbow Baton

Ok, Right now, i use a Demo Comet with said bonuses, a Red Sword (0/15/25/15/0) and an L&K14 Combat with 0/0/20/25/30 bonuses. When i started this discussion, my original intention were as follows:

1. To benefit from everyone's greater experience in learning about the awesome powers and potential of weapons that are of the Extremely Awesome variant. Mostly for my own curiosity, you know? Just to see what wonders are out there.


2. To find out if i could find ony of the above mentioned weapons, and if they are worth getting.

Sorry for this strange way of going about learning these things, but this is my first ever discussion board post, so give me some time to catch on.

Sealed J Sword!! y has no one mentioned Sealed J Sword? it may be uber rare but its the best sword that combos

Checked your info and it lists your primary character as a Skyly Humar so by all means keep making runs through central control to find that big hornet that will only drop her precious J Sword for you. Lavis Cannon, Soul Banish, High Hit% Charge Vulcans (I have found with 60% on hit!!), Red Handgun and Diska of Braveman are all good weapons. If you play online, beware of the FSOD when carrying more than one weapon. I cannot tell you the number of times I've lost good weapons, items, mags and other things because my system froze. You can also get Chain Sawd from the Vulmers, Sange from the Mil Lilly (I've gotten 2 drops from those), the 75 Agito from Migium spaceship(pretty rare), Ancient Saber from Hidelt temple (friend got one 2 days ago), Monkey King Bar from Mericol, Partisan of Lightening from Gibbles, and Yamigarsu from Ill Gill on control tower runs. I've got a Racast lvl 145 in Skyly and the id rocks! Happy Hunting!

You just proved yourself wrong! If he's looking for the best weapons, sending him to the weapon database which has every weapon in isn't going to be much help, is it?

If you want the most ideal for your class, I suggest using dude3282's links. I've used them for a while; they tend to be a good guidline for anyone looking for the best weapons per char.
