It's officialy, the War on Ignorance has been won the ignorant.

Popular hacker software includes "Comet Cursor", "Bonzi Buddy" and "Flash".

What are you going to do with Bonzi Buddy? Sure you prank call people and habe the monkey talk for you.

If your son has requested a new "processor" from a company called "AMD", this is genuine cause for alarm. AMD is a third-world based company who make inferior, "knock-off" copies of American processor chips. They use child labor extensively in their third world sweatshops, and they deliberately disable the security features that American processor makers, such as Intel, use to prevent hacking. AMD chips are never sold in stores, and you will most likely be told that you have to order them from internet sites. Do not buy this chip! This is one request that you must refuse your son, if you are to have any hope of raising him well.

I really hope that this was just a joke.

LMAO. I fit almost all of those criteria, and I'm NOT what those sadly misinformed parents dub a "hacker." That kid was hardly a hacker. Real hackers understand the ins and outs of computer programming algorithms and complex network algorithms, they don't just download a program and run it. The correct name for that kind of KID is a script-kiddie.

http://forums.zonelabs.com/zonelabs/board/message?board.id=security&message.id=2055

"The white hat hackers. They are the ones that start out trying to figure out how things will work but basically don?t want to do any damage to the computers they hack into, so they are going to be the ones that corporation go to and hire them to try and break into their systems and pay them to do it. Kind of like the Homeless hacker, he didn't steal anything or break anything. He hacked a system and then told them how to fix it.

Then you have the Blackhat hackers. They will try and break into systems for their own reasons, but again they are more than likely going to want to get some benefit from doing the hack."

"And then you have script kiddies, they use tools written by someone else to try and get into your system. They more than likely don't know what the code means, they are using a tool. They use other tools to rewrite virus and trojans without really understanding how to code and how to do what they really want. they are the ones that will get on your machine and just thrash it to make you mad."

@ Serial's first reply:
o.O
You do know that most of these 'scripts' that the 'real' hackers spread around are really viruses, right ? =/
... or do you not clean and check your hard drive daily ?
I suggest you update your antivirus software (if any)

Oh, and a monthly reformat is nice too. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Definitely man. I use Zone Labs free firewall, and AVG anti-virus (free version). Good stuff. This is basically my guide to the computer world...

http://happyhacker.org/whatsnew.shtml

It's a decent site for beginners like me! I'm more of a hardware/performance type person myself. (Major = Computer Hardware Engineering). Something like this interests me...

Computer hackers are often limited by conventional computer hardware. They may request "faster" video cards, and larger hard drives, or even more memory

Oh yeah, my video card lets me h4X like no one's business >_>
God forbid i attempt to make my computer better...

Quake is an online virtual reality used by hackers. It is a popular meeting place and training ground, where they discuss hacking and train in the use of various firearms. Many hackers develop anti-social tendencies due to the use of this virtual world, and
it may cause erratic behaviour at home and at school.

Why is it that i picture a virtual drill sergeant?
"All right maggots, today you will be trained to use an AK-47, to format your hard drive, and to be the biggest jackass possible!"

And why does he think that pressing the space bar counts as "training in the use of various firearms"?

Is your son becoming argumentative and surly in his social behaviour/Has your son radically changed his appearance

*gasp*
your son has become a teenager!!!
This guy needs to remove his head from his ass. Little timmy can't enjoy "reading rabbit" forever.

this must be a prank

Quite frankly... If, when I have a son... I'd be proud to find out that he's proven himself to be capable of illegally gaining access to secure data. Albeit, once he's proven such an ability, I'll have to discourage him from using it for the wrong reasons (in all honesty, I don't see that there's a whole lot of legal use for that ability, short of hacking for the government)...

On the other hand, I also plan to have any sons I may have thoroughly introduced to C++ by the time they're in first grade...

Has your son asked you to change ISPs?

Most American families use trusted and responsible Internet Service Providers, such as AOL. These providers have a strict "No Hacking" policy, and take careful measures to ensure that your internet experience is enjoyable, educational and above all legal.

Now that's comedy http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

My first tip that that was a joke article was that point in it actually. Adobe Photoshop, not Adobe's... The person obviously didn't know what the heck he was talking about, and shouldn't be writing an article like that. After that little twist in thoughts, the whole article got a lot more funny.

I'm going to stick with people are just freaking stupid some of the things they said fall into the catagories of a lot of kids I myself fit several and I'm not hacking comps (atleast not yet) besides if you really know or trust your kid you won't care what they do (within reason of course) and be proud of them for what they can do.

http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif Very Funny. The sad part is that some parent will come across this and fail to realize that its a joke and end up killing their child...http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

They said "Adobe's" meanine it belonged to the company "Adobe". Adobe makes other things beside PS too, ya know. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I have a child.....when did this happen?! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

No, no, jk!!

Well, I don't like hackers.....just look at what they did to Half-Life 2. They should be locked away in a mad house for all eternity. Seriously....they can make your life a living hell if they wanted to. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

No, crackers or Black Hackers will make your life hell. Hackers aren't necessarily bad. You just never hear the stories of the White Hackers that hack a business then tell the people that they hacked how they did what they did, or the people that work for companies that grew up hacking and are now highly talented computer consultants.

May 18, 2004, 05:20 AM
Yep....lol

That's what I was referring to... http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

I have heard of a few ppl {mostly ppl that went to school with me or the schools around me} that have gotten in a lot of trouble for hacking the schools computers. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Yes, there are lots of white collar crimes....but not many of them are big enough to make wide screen news, uh...just as Arislan said. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

Reading... Math... Rudimentary coding... These are things that can be taught to a basic level of understanding by age 6 or 7...

Phantasy Star, however... That's an on-going thing. They will be thoroughly absorbed, but they may be 10 before they've been able to explore everything.
