Quests and Items

Do you have to finish the quest to keep the items you find through it because I was doing Pal Rappy pipping and a found a photon drop and I quit to reload the Rappys to re-pipe and the photon drop was still there and yet people in the chat told me it wont stick unless you complete quest... help?

as long as you pick up the item and quit normally, it will save. the only way not to keep it is to either a) not pick it up, or b) turn off the power before the game can save. Of course, you could always get corrupted or FSOD...
