Just think about it, with the Stat Wars special effects, the certain places it can be done at. And the actors, if I happen to be one of the actors, than I will be a HUcast all the way...Also think of how the storyline will come together, it will be terrific if you ask me...What do you think of this and what character would you like to be?...

Edit: This is a horrible, horrible idea. Take a look at every other video game movie in existance?

Happy, Dhylec? http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

With the way they do movies now, I honestly don't see how someone could make a PSO movie, especially if you go Hollywood style on it. However, if you make a spoof Anime or Manga (something like they did for Ragnarok Online), then it might give overall good results.

If PSO did have a movie, it would have to be anime, just to be kept in sync with the games. as for the idea as a whole? It depends... there isn't much movie matirial there, but hey- transformers got it's own (godly) movie, so anything can happen.

No.....

Just wouldn't be a good idea. Not something I'd go spend $7.50 to see in theatres nor would I spend $20 bucks on the dvd. Maybe an anime....like others have stated....but definitly not a good idea for a live action movie. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

HELL NO!!!

Are you crazy?? a movie. come on. they do such a bad job at advertising that there is no way anyone can see it.

and besides. everyone knows the FOnewerl should be the main character.

It would make an interesting Anime, Id watch it and buy the manga. In manga/anime form it would be decent atleast, if not better. So yeah, live action would suck, though I do like laughing at Mario Bros movie every now and then...

Dhylec, why don't you just sticky the old PSO Movie topic?

Well seeing as the other topic will get locked, I'll type my thoughts here then.

A film of PSO would work. Although I think it would have to be given a different name. There is plenty of plot line. As long as they use the new prologue and that they didnt come to Ragol because the planet was disintegrating or how ever you spell it. It would need some back story like they did with Lord of the rings. The meteor that hit Coral and all that. Episode one may lack a bit of plot on it's own. But that can be made up for with the subplots such as Black Paper and Donoph Baz. Episode two should n't be much of a problem. For the exam part, if they integrate it with seat of the heart or something, then through that Elly becomes your operator and then you explore Gal Da Val, finding the messages from Flowen. Would need some sub plot though in this bit. You could use the control tower and mother brain, the truth behind why it was there. Why was it there in the first place? Anyway, Seabed wouldn't need much in the way of sub-plot, because with the message from Flowen, it makes it pretty tense as it become apparent what happened. And I can't really say much for episode three in this case because it hasn't been released yet, luckily, released here on friday http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif so I'll come up with something for that. But the story of episodes one and two is pretty epic, it just needs a conclusion. Anyone who doesn't play PSO for the plot should be shot!

I have happened to be thinking of this quite recently. I wanted to challenge my self by writing a PSO screenplay, as I have with other games. The only problem is, if a studio optioned this script, I may have no say over how the movie goes. Bad game movies usually have a good screen play, but the director, who has never played the game, takes a few liberties here and there.

I was going along with a lot of what zimmk2vgc had to say. I figured Ep1 would establish the problems, the explosion, blah blah blah. The subplots would be various quest, especially the first Calus quest which would fade into Ep2. There would be some Black Paper and soul eater, but the main plot would remain the same.

Ep2 would find the same people venturing to stop Olga. The VR would be covered by Seat of the Heart and Blue Star Memories, which would fade into Ep3. Control tower may also be present. I thought it would be neat if one of the heros was Guykild. I thought about how he could get trapped somewhere in Seabed and some of his parts could be corroded by salt water, therefore his strange buzzing... but that was an idea.

Ep3 would open with the OPSS (I think thats what it is called) incident and continue with the plot we all know. This would probably be the easiest screenplay to write, cause its all there. There are many dynamics to Ep3 that are could be portrayed much better on screen, like cloning...

Why would I spend that much time on this idea? Cause movies is what I do in my spare time. There haven't really been many sci-fi, good movies out in a bit (unless you count Riddick, which I don't). It may make a great Anime, but I think it would do well in Hollywood too. As long as the Director isn't too hands on, I'm sure it would reflect the game well, and be entertaining at the same time. There is a reason LoR did so well...

Anyhoo, the way you say "the Hollywood treatment" is true. You must understand, many books/games/etc. that want to be made into movies, do not make entertaining movies. Thats why they are changed. Just think of what movies are and what games are, especially books. They are so different, so thats why things are changed. I think PSO would not need changes to be a good movie though.
