Strange question

Ok, here it is:

If I were to take a photo of, say, my dog, and put it on my computer via scanner or whatever and opened it paint and copied it pixel by pixel, would it look exactly the same, or would it look flat? (lacking the 3rd dimension,depth)

Are you saying you want to recolor the photo?
If so it depends in the palette and prowess of the artist. But most often is does lose the "3rd Dimension" to a degree.

A pixel to pixel copy would be identical to the original unless you copied it incorrectly or changed the pixel properties (their colour).

Otherwise it is like copying a file on the computer and having the copy not be identical to the original.
