That's right Wazzy, when I woke up this morning, PSOBB setup was downloaded, and the Installed it hten http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

My only problem is, after changing my computer color to 16 Bit, and changing the screen resolution in the options...

It still won't start. I also have it set on low quality, and it doesn't seem like there's much I can change in the options menu.

Anything I can do?

I hate to say this to you, but... download it again.
Even if you're in WinME, even if you dont have the Japanese IME installed, it should at least boot.
Oh wait, are you sure your PC is capable of running it?

I saw the requirements on the FAQ... I'm jsut computarded, and don't know how to check @_@

EDIT: That is, to ask, can anyone help me on checking my requirements? http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

I could, but considering that there are many options that will probably be written in a different way (apart from the fact that I just checked how it would be in XP, and there are options that I just wouldnt know how to translate), I just cant... sorry.

But anyway, another thing came to my mind. How old are your drivers? Maybe they are too old to run PSOBB, specially the graphic card drivers.

Well, I think they're about 3 years old.

And all I can tell about my processor is that it could be an Intel Inside Pentium 3... cause it has 3 exclamation marks XD

Yep, computarded...

You mean like... buy a new computer, or do I jsut not know what a driver is?

If it's buying a new computer, that would take about 6 years http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

Maybe, repeat, MAYBE there's no need for a new computer. We'd have to know the specs of your comp. So right now, I'm refering to the drivers, which are, basically, programs that control the work of the hardware parts of your computer. In order to get a better rendering with any game you must keep the graphic card drivers up to date.
Oh, and another possibility. Do you have DirectX9 installed?

START, RUN and type in DXDIAG. After it finishes loading, select SAVE ALL INFORMATION. Post that info for us to look at. Also, make sure to update your video card to the latest drivers. The dxdiag info will give you the specs on your system including processor, video ram, sound, direct x version etc. From there we can see where you are at in regards to meeting the requirements. If you do meet the requirements, then we will move to step 2 http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Woah, RAM, boy, RAM. That may be your problem right there, besides checking on the card drivers.

Go to Intels site and download the newest video card drivers for that card, see what happens. I'd be willing to bet that's your major problem at the moment.

I'm not sure, because it's english, but I'd say that that is the video memory... and the minimum requirement is 32 MB. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Besides, I checked yesterday Intel's site for info on that GPU, and it uses shared memory(or however it's said in english, when both the CPU and GPU use the main memory). So, those 126/127 are cut to around.. 120 MB. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Give it a try and download the newest drivers, and pray a lot. However I think that the only option would be to get a new Graphics card. Again http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Yeah, I didnt notice that. A new video card is definitely going to be in order. Heh, shared memory... So the chip itself has no memory to itself, nice...

If I do need to buy a new graphics card...

I'm screwed. Not only do I have no money, if I did my dad certainly wouldn't want me messing around with his computer. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

sorry SUPAH_CHAO, but 5MB of display memory just ain't gonna cut it http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif However, you don't need to go all out for a card. You can pick up a descent 64MB card for under $50. It might strain on some of the newer eye candy games but PSOBB should run fairly smooth with it at reasonable settings. Also you're a bit low on the ram side. 4 years ago 128 MB would be sufficient for most anything, but these days even most bottom end, low budget pcs come with at least 256MB of the cheap ram. And yeah the shared memory (usually called integrated) is a cheaper way for manufacturers to build pcs (you'll often see integrated modems and nic cards as well, even in higher end pcs.) You will often times see off the shelf pcs that state they have something like 64 MB of integrated video ram. What that means to the gamer is that the pc is gonna run like its mired in molasses as both processors pull from the same pool of memory. Thats also why you see the funky numbers for system ram. Its basically a very misleading way to represent specs. If the advertisement says that the pc has 256 MB and it utilizes integrated/dedicated video ram then if you look at the system memory, you will see that its actually the 256MB minus whatever they allocated for video ram. So if the integrated video memory is 64 MB then your system ram will show 192 MB. They don't come right out and say that though.

Before you buy anything, be forewarned that, as far as I know, WinME won't allow you to set the language to Japanese. Therefore, you can't type your ID. >_> At least, that's what happened to me and everyone else I know of with ME. If this is wrong, someone correct me.

Thanks VS for the info http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Now I know what I'll buy with my job after I get back online with PSO...

No, it's not a graphics card. It's a new computer -.-;;;

EDIT: Well, it'd be nice if someone could recommend a Media Player to paly the .ogg files, so I can atleast enjoy something from this download... and since Ian isn't being helpful at all >.>

Asking if Windows Media Player or MusicMatch Jukebox is a good program to do ANYTHING with except in cases of extreme duress is just going to get me to hate you. >_>;

As for the question, any recent version of Winamp should come with built-in support for .ogg files. You can download it, for free, at the wonderfully non-obscure URL of http://www.winamp.com.

And yes, a new computer is in order. With a real graphics card. And a real OS. And maybe some computer literacy. >_>
