Is it worth it?

I've been playing PSO offline for about two years, but I've never bought a modem to play online. I'm deciding whether I really want one, now. Anyone have anything to say to help me decide?

from your profile, i assume you are on gc..
on gc, the ships are linked, thus US, EU & JP can play with each other
you should meet up with others to play, & need a keboard to chat
dailup modem is not recommended, but if that's the only thing you can afford, then it's ok

I've never regretted getting online. It's lots more fun playing the game with other people than it is to play it by yourself.

Just get yourself a broadband adapter, if you're going GC. It is loads better than dialup.
