So, anyone got it? I know it's out on the US now.

Anyone can make me a short analisis on the game? Is it any good compared with its prequels? What are the good and bad stuff in this game?

Haha, yeah I have it...http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

I can't make a big analysis though.

It's a good game. The Partner system is pretty awesome. It feels a bit more like the Genesis games too.

Those were the good. I'm not very far, so I can't really say any bad. Except the damn spikes! It's the ones that pop out from the ground. I stand there and think I'm safe and then STAB!

And I downloaded the jp rom http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif a friend of mine uses a ROM, saw it a bit and I can say it seems cool. Just one detail. TO get the chaos emeralds is a pain in the ass.

I heard that in this game, the chaos emeralds are easier to get. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_confused.gif

Sonic Advance 1 - Find the Special Spring (Whoever said that was hard was... just plain dumb)
Sonic Advance 2 - Collect 7 coins (Now THAT was hard)
Sonic Advance 3 - I hear you have to collect 10 Chao in the stage... sounds schweet! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

You have to find the 10 chaos that are spread among every world, in area1, 2 and 3, and maybe even in the area selection kind-of-world. Once you do that, a key will appear somewhere in one of the three areas, you have to find the key. Then, in the world thingy, find a special bumper and jump over it, it'll take you to the special stage to get the Chaos Emerald.

So, is it a pain in the ass or is it a pain in the ass?

Well yeah I know! I owned the first and second one, but they seemed much more easier to spot and avoid...Now you fly right into them!

Edit: I'm playing right now and I just jumped backwards onto one! wtf! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_argh.gif

Oh... no special stages? That's a little disappointing.

I keep putting off getting a Sonic Advance game, but I think this might finally be the one I get. Or are the previous two better?

Sef

No...There's special stages.

And this is the one you'd wanna get. 1 and 2 are okay, but have a weird feeling to them. I think this one has just the right amount of jumps turns and loops to be a great Sonic game. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

They attempted to jack up the Sonic games will all sorts of characters and special moves that are both useless, shitty, and stupid. I never used Sonic's special moves, ever. I never used the other characters. I play Sonic for three reasons: Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. I don't need a pink hedgehog schoolgirl or some idiot rabbit.

Other thing I found annoying as well were the physics. The characters are sluggish and feel extremely heavy, much heavier to move than what I was used on the Genesis. Also, the levels are nowhere near as forgiving as what I saw on the Genesis. In Sonic Advance, you often seem at a crossroads but the next step on your path is out of the screen's range, so one direction will lead you to a blind shot for the next part of the level, and the other direction leads straight to your doom.

you do realize the pink Hedgehog is Amy, who was released on Sonic CD in like 1989 or something? She's still oldschool, though most people don't seem to know it :/

But she wasn't playable until Sonic R.

I dunno, KodiaX... it's not like having more characters is necessarily a bad thing. Sonic, Tails and Knuckles are still there, aren't they?

I played a limited flash version of Sonic Advance 2 someone once posted, and I thought it was alright. Who knows how close that was to the actual game, though.

Maybe I should beat the games on Mega Collection before I consider getting one for GBA, eh?

They may have Sonic Tails & Knux on the good side, but watch all the shitty characters they tried to introduce lately: Big, Rouge, Cream. Three slam dunks into a trash can. And dammit, Amy is NOT a battle hedgehog! Plug her for comical relief if you want to but don't stick her as a playable in a video game! I feel guilty whenever I whip her out and her toy hammer, as if expecting my mom to walk in, watch Amy and her toy hammer, and call me a pussy for fighting with such a lousy weapon. o_O;

Amen to that.

Although Rouge is less stupid looking in Sonic Heroes.

(And I'm glad you didn't say Shadow... he's just so cool http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif)

Shadow's okay. I wish they put him as a playable character in this game instead of Cream.

And what for the replayability in this game? Graphics? Sounds? Difficulty?

I loved Sonic Advance 2 due to the crazy speed limits. Is this game fast?

Yeah, the game is fast. I think you get stopped a little bit too much though. But there's a lot of speed. Once you get going that is. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wink.gif

Eh... but wouldn't he play exactly like Sonic?

Seems like kind of a waste to me.

Oh, and Sef... I'm guessing they don't have the "Super Sonic in any stage" thing going on, do they?

Sef

Spoilers ahead...I think.

Yeah you gotta unlock Super Sonic...After you get all the emeralds you unlock a secret stage and fight an extra boss as Super Sonic and your partner is Robotnik. You toss him at the boss

For a second there I thought that you were going to tell us that shadow would become a play able character. I would much rather use Shadow than sonic. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

They did that on Sonic Adventure 2. And if Sonic Team could think of this new partner system, they could think about adding features to him that distinguished him from Sonic the hedgehog.

Just take the things he used from Sonic Battle.

Well, in regards to SA2, I mean... the whole point was to have two groups of characters that were almost exactly alike, so it made sense to have both Sonic and Shadow.

Sef, I've never played Sonic Battle. What kind of moves did they give Shadow?

All I know is this...

If they released Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles all in one cartridge for the GBA, it'd pwn Sonic Advance # handsdown.

I refuse to buy Sonic Advance 3 for the atrocity and shittyness that consisted of Sonic Advance 2.

To answer about Shadow in Sonic Battle Question. Shadow had all these Spiffy Magicy Moves... God Only Knows how he could do all this all of a sudden is beyond me.

And yeah, All 3 of the Advance Sonic Games aren't as good as the orignals. Nothing can beat the orignals.

Though Advancing (And Adding Shiz to) the Orignals isnt that good an idea either... I mean look how they killed the Mario Games doin that stupid Mario Advance Crap!

I Say Give me the Game in its Orignal Compacity... No Added Crap, No Bonuses, No Stupid Voices, Just the Game as it was before... THEN I'll think about buying it ee;

Well that's obvious. A sonic game released now will never have the impact it had when Sonic the hedgehog was being introduced in the 90's.

And answerman, Sonic Advance 2 wasn't that bad in my opinion. I actually prefered it over Sonic Advance 1 for the following reasons:

- Speed. This game was one of the (if not the) fastest sonic games to the date;
- Boss battles. It may sound like lame stuff, but it turned out real fun. They tried (like Sonic & Knuckles' mushroom forest boss) to put on running boss system. It works, and it was fun, especially the Techno base one, altough I don't want them back on another sonic game;
- Graphics. The sceneries have more depth and life than the previous game;
- Music. Fits each stage better, and is more adequate to the Sonic formula, altough you can't ask much of GBA's sound speaker;
- Air stunts;
- Grind, something which Sonic (and Amy?) could do by jumping on the first game. Now you just find a rail with anyone and slide;
- Manga-like story. It was funny when Knuckles started crying when he made an appearance, and added a bonus to keep playing, altough this was only available in Sonic's game mode;
- 4-player action Teamplay. Add the speed factor, air stunts and grinding, and this will be one of the best multiplayer games for the GBA;
- Special Stages, where you run off a 3D arena. Much like the Sonic CD stages, without all that interactivity with the scenario.
