Keyboard shortcuts (like copy/paste) won't work!

I'm sure there is a very easy solution to this, but I haven't a clue. Since I installed Windows XP, keyboard shortcuts such as ctrl+c and ctrl+v don't work, but alt+tab does. It's a small problem yet extremely aggravating. Can anyone help?

that's odd!
in general, those shortcuts should work in many situations.. specially MS-related apps & environment

however, depending on certain program you are using, these shortcuts might not function
