Hello youngsters,

I have noticed the topic about AOL recently posted, and like Rich_T suggested there, I have read the big sticky in full.

To no avail, I'm afraid.

Here's my plight (my friend's, so to speak, as I'm not using AOL, thank God):
He plays on PAL Gamecube PSO, and his ISP is AOL (9.0) DSL (USB modem).

We have succeeded in linking the GC and the PC, and we no longer get the "(015) DHCP, etc." error, but after the "Connecting to DNS servers" message, we get the "Error #102, check your ISP settings, etc." pop-up instead of the Minhiro one.

We believe we need the DNS to connect http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

AOL said that it's possible to share DNS with AOL 9.0, which he is using.

Any help ? anything we should use/download ?

AOLs a bit of a strange beast, most things are incompatable with it, some things can be made to work with it if your lucky.

the basic internet conection sharing should show two monitors in the bit near the clock, when the gamecube is switched on you should get a message on your P.C saying Local area conection conected.

on the gamecube everything should be set to automatic.

As for the ISP, some USB modems are a bit funny with ICS, and it wont work for some reason.

another posible solution would be to use a router, but again, it would have to be an AOL compatable router, and even then your not gaurenteed success.

As for AOL, the best solution would be to get a new standard ISP, do a complete format on the infected P.C and re-install everyhting from scratch.

The best advice anyone can give is this: switch ISP's. I don't know if it's available in your friends area, but try comcast (best internet available), or if you are doomed to dial-up, try net-zero high speed. It's $15 US dollars per month, and it's ALOT faster than AOL.

My friend is French, like me http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif so your ISP may not work http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif but he's stuck with AOL for another 4 months, and he's not gonna take two ISPs at the same time, obviously.

Thanks for your advice, Rich_T http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

We got the GC and PC linked, since PSO Proxy is functional, we're just missing the DNS -- I think =/
