I had some kid in my computer class misspronounce Kuda. I don't know what came over me, but I hate it when I, or someone else misspronounces something.

he said " who's Kuda ( he pronounced it "cudAAA")

I twitched my eye and said " IT'S KUDA (properly pronounced "coo-duh")!!! KU-DA!!!

I turned back to my computer and fumed for a bit.

How can your name be mispronounced? Mahgawd, it's not that hard to say KOO DA. Retardedly easy in fact.

But I feel your pain. :3

You're lucky. If I had a fiver for every time someone mispronounced (or 'mispronounced' http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif ) My surname, I'd be uhh... pretty rich by now.

Although, I suppose It IS pretty difficult to pronounce 'Cochran'. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_confused.gif

People always mispronounce my last name...and misspell it. I'm almost driven to the point of insanity sometimes when it happens more than once a day.

because names come from a variety of cultures, and not knowing which one often results and a mispronounciation of the vowels because they have multiple diffrent sounds for just one letter. Like, if you applied Scott's "Kuda" to say, the name "Dustin", you would probably get Doo-sten.

Heh. When you have a lastname that is some actual word, it is likely you will get it.

Having a lastname that isn't really supposed to be in the English language mine is always mispronounced. I used to try to correct them, now I just go with whatever and answer to whatever ridiculous pronounciation people produce that I think is me.

It has led to hilarious incidents where it wasn't me, and I had to say "oh, sorry I thought that was me" in front of 500 people.

Ya.

If you don't like mispronunciations...never play Socom 2. Half of the stoners or stoner wannabes on that game can't pronounce anything.

I mean ANYTHING.

My Socom name is Rill.

R-i-l-l

I've only heard one person ever pronounce it correctly.

FUCKING RILL!

Gah, I get that all the time! I've reached a point where, if it's not important, I don't really care anymore - I get called Jelly by everyone because of it, but...meh. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime1.gif

My two friends last names are Aslinger *yes they are brothers*.

Everyone says "Ass-slinger" though. It really pisses them off. It's pronounced "A-slinger".

Sometimes I get annoyed by it, sometimes I don't.

But, it happens......and all you can do is correct them. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

My last name is German and people have problems saying it right. Baumann. BOH-muhn? BOMB-man? Bom-an?

It's BOW (rhymes with 'now') MAN (rhymes with 'fan').

<------ My forum/game name people say "Wrath". Now, I know some people are uneducated in the fantasy world and do not know what a "Wraith" is, so I let this slide. I've actually had some people say "Wrath Ver-gay" .... -_-

My name only has slight pronounciation issues, but it's the spelling that's usually mangled. Doesn't really matter much to me, as I've gotten somewhat used to it.

For those wondering, my name is Stephan Christensen.
Stephan... pronounced the same way as Steven, not Stefan. It's not even the sometimes confusing Stephen... nope... it's Stephan.... and pronounced like Steven... ugh. Well, at least it's a somewhat unique approach to things...

And Christensen gets all sorts of different spellings. Most memorable will be the ever used: Christiansian/Christainsain/Christianson

At least my middle name, Zachary, runs into little trouble... maybe only spelling-wise, but I could care less either way.

Well Scott, at least they don't mispronounce your first name. They could be calling you like, Scoot Kuh-dae, or something.

Without almost any ego, i think I have your guys beat. My last name is Couturier, it's french and it means "dressmaker"(proceed to laugh now). Now here is the dilemma, no one, not even I, knows whether they should pronounce it in FRENCH or english. People who say it in french say it Co-tur-ee-ay, while those (including me) who say it in english say it Co-teer-ee-er, and sometimes with variation. Yes, I'm not sure how I should pronounce my name, but my family and I have always said it the english way, and BTW I live in the U.S. and I'm not foreign at all. Teachers i had in school ALWAYS ask me how to say my last name, and if they don't they default to saying it the french way. Plus, nobody can spell my fucking name for the life of them. God i fucking hate my name.

I have a slightly different problem.

My real name is Niles Stanley.

Whenever my name is sent on information cards or whatever, people who recieve them take the liberty of correcting my name themselves.

So, when I get to the place and my name is called, I usually hear:

"Stanley Miles?"

Backwards and misspelled, after being sent in correctly. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

this has happened to me in every such situation in my life. Every single teacher of every single grade, bar 2. Those are my favorite teachers.

Moral of the story: Trust someone to spell their own name correctly, and even further, put it in the right order. -_-;;

And you have got to be fucking kidding me.
I didnt know it was possible to mispronounce 'Rill'
What. The. Fuck. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif
