the irc channel linked to from this site has little to do with this site. It was orginally created by erupt a long time ago. Sense then, its become a regular irc channel filled witrh around 15-20 regular, almost daily, users.

Whats this mean, exactly?

Sorry to break it to ya, but irc is not like yahoo or aim chat. People here are not constantly oggling their computer screen waiting for someone to talk back to them.

In alot of irc rooms, you could type something, and it may take 30 minutes or more to get a reply. This is considered normal. Irc is usually running in the backround, and the average user occasionally checks it. The people of #psow go to this channel to talk when theyre not doing anything else, occasionally checking in.

Alltogether, this means what exactly?

#psow is not a live version of the forums and site. Alot of people linking from the site to #psow have pso related questions. The majority of them do not even bother to make a topic in the forums, or to even check the site at all. They come to this channel believing everyone in it will know the answer to their question, and will answer right away.

This, most certainly, is not the case. Do not come into the channel and become shocked when someone asks you if you looked at the site. When you say know and they tell you to look, it doesnt mean theyre being mean.

What it means is that they just MIGHT have something better to do, and since, hopefully, youre competent enough to scroll through the site on your own, so since the regular irc user is DOING SOMETHING ELSE, you can do something youre perfectly capable of doing on your own.

Also, if you come in asking something along the lines of "ANY1 WANNA PLAY PSO?!!!!", "DUDE, ANYONE HERE?", ect. then get a reply like "i dont really play pso much, sorry, the first answer that you type does not need to be "Dude what the hell are you doing in here then?", followed by flaming the other regular user for not doing something you see fit in a matter you know little if nothing about, yeah?

Another thing, about getting kicked.

Spamming will get you kicked, pffensive language will get you kicked, and flaming will get you kicked.

If you dont agree with getting kicked, or anything else about the channel for that matter, frankly, all that can be said is "oh well"

#psow is not a democracy. The ops of #psow, and alot of the user in it, are for the majority friends, and have been coming to the channel for a long time. The ops in a sense "own" the channel, and it is thir own opinion what is deemed appropriate for it, whether you agree or not. Not only that, but if you manage to piss off even a regular user, an op may kick or even ban you from the channel.

The best thing to do, with the recent influx of people coming to this channel, is offer these words, and a summary of advice:

If youre new to the channel, thats fine. Just come in, chat a little. Try not to ask about pso, alot of us dont play it much if at all. Dont spam, dont flame, ect. If someone takes a while to reply, just wait. Type your message out, then look at it, and ask yourself if theres ANY chance it will offend anyone. If you even act stupid, an op may kick you, so just use common sense. Do all these, and eventually youll feel the channel out, k?

Dood, this is the first irc topic not to make anons look like tards. I just made this because alot of people have been joining the channel and compaining about inactivity and it not having much to do with pso. Besides, it got ya to post =P
