View Full Version : Why The Hell Is Scooby Doo So Popular?

Can someone please give me an answer?

Is it the witty dialogue? The high-class animation and sound? Or the unique story lines and plot twists? God knows I didn't think it was Mr.Jackoff the farmer running the international gold smuggling ring, and using ghosts to scare off intruders.

I mean jesus, who watches it? Every time I flip the channel to cartoon network while its on causes me intense pain.

Little kids think it's the best cartoon out there-but it isn't.

I think it's all Scooby and Shaggy. People think Shaggy does drugs cause he has 'The Munchies' all the time and that makes him cool.

As for Scooby, he's a flippen dog. People love dogs.

I somehow knew I'd see a rant like this...

why do people like sponge bob so much?

why do people like this or that...

just simply put... they do. It's nearly impossible to put a reason behind something like this when you yourself don't see 'why?'.

My advice: Just fume out your anger then get over it cause life goes on my friend... http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Wrong. My mother is proof why Scooby Doo is popular: It's retro. She loves Scooby because it reminds her of her childhood.

It isn't the kids that like scooby. It's our parents.

Yeah, that one is a lot better than the original.

I dunno, at least Cartoon Network has Adult Swim. Nick has completely gone to hell, basically.

Nick is crap now. All that isn't funny anymore like in the old day http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_no.gif And that other show that tells scary stories was also a good one. It seems that Adult Swim is the only channel that has good shows now

why do people like sponge bob so much?

Its humorous on many levels. I've found the few episodes I've seen of it very amusing.

My mother is proof why Scooby Doo is popular

Somehow, I doubt it is the middle-aged crowd driving the ticket sales of both motion pictures and giving the television show ratings by viewing regularly.

My advice: Just fume out your anger then get over it cause life goes on my friend... http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

No anger. This is a rant thread, and the popularity of scooby doo seemed good enough as any a topic here.

It's "what ever floats your boat".

I could care less about it......but if it's on I'll watch it. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

I'm not a picky-ass, though. I will watch/play just about anything that is entertaining/fun. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/anime2.gif

Gah.

Although there are a lot of shows I question, I question BEYBLADES the most! Geeze... TOPS?!! YOU WATCH A SHOW ABOUT SPINNING TOPS WITH GIANT MONSTERS THAT COME OUT OF THESE TINY TOPS?!!

"OMG Tison you beat that huge Lion-Fox-Rabbit-Pizza breed with your Dragoon! You're the best blader ever!"

"Yeah, I am cool, aren't I?"

"No, you're ugly, but that's not the point..."

Not to mention the characters are less than desireable http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

I pity you space_butler, I'd hate to have your broadcasts.

Luckily, I have Adult Swim, unluckily, all TV must go off at 9:00pm, and hour before it starts, but luckily, I have a friend who records it all on his computer, but unluckily due to a hoard of things this summer, I can't see him much. So, meh. As for Scooby-Doo, I have no clue why it's popular, my siblings beg and beg for every new video that comes out. Personally I think they should hold a Scooby-Doo video burning, similar to when people started burning records, that would be so fun ^_^

hmm that could be fun...but if it had some spongebob burnings too then it would be better...I hate nickelodeon and cartoon network now http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

yes, they mostly have gone down the drain with the exception of Toonami and Adult Swim on CN. CN keeps showing more and more WB shows, taking away the reason I even liked CN in the first place, and Nickelodeon keeps promoting themselves with that redundant U-pick Live show. Slime Time Live was much better, plus my sister got on it and lost (they would have had me, but it was a too many boys and too little girls issue, so they chose my sister, to bad, cause her team lost http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif On top of that, they keep making worse and worse sitcoms for Teen Nick, while showing unending reruns of Spongebob and Fairly Odd Parents, stuffing crappy shows like Jimmy Neutron in between.

Nickelodeon had some good shows back in the day. Remember David the Gnome? How about Rocko's Modern Life? And let's not forget Maya the Bee. And you have to admit that the first season of the rugrats was funny as hell. And they had a few good gameshows too. *cough*Legends Of the Hidden Temple *cough*. That reminds me of how that show was randomly rigged. Sometimes they'd place the Temple Guards in the first 3 rooms of the maze. It also reminds me how much I used to laugh at the kids whom had trouble with the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. Haha, poor bastards.

And then we have Cartoon Network, which had a longer "good" lifespan than Nick. God forbid that they bring Cow + Chicken or Johnny Bravo back onto the air.

Both networks have bought in a flux of "X-TREME" new shows for an "X-TREME" new generation. (Rocket Power, Kids next Door, Wild Thronberries, As Told By Ginger, etc). The good generation is over, and the sucky "X-TREME" generation has started. Therefore, Children's TV today sucks a big one.

Oooh be careful direct linking to Something Awful. If they get wind of it, I hear they change the image's URL to a less desireable one. Thankfully I uploaded the image to my own server before I found out for myself, but rumor has it sometimes they pick "Tubgirl".
I just saw Johnny Bravo! It was on "Fridays" on Cartoon Network, although it was the last show on for the night (about 10 pm? 11? I don't know). I loved Cow and Chicken!! Also, if anyone has satellite or digital cable, look for a channel called Nicktoons TV. Sure, sometimes they show the bottom-feeding crap they show back on Nickelodeon, but sometimes they show things like Rocko's Modern Life and one time in a blue moon they showed Invader Zim. I also get another Nick channel called Games and Sports (Gas...sucky acronym but whatever) that sometimes shows Legends of the Hidden Temple, Guts, and Wild and Crazy Kids. I dearly miss Pete and Pete, which used to be shown on The N until it was removed mysteriously. Clarissa Explains It All was on that same channel and suffered the same fate. I heard that a few weeks ago Salute Your Shorts was shown on U-Pick Nick. Salute Your Shorts was my favorite show even though I was about four years old when it was on TV. I know some people sell copies of old Nick shows on VHS/VCD/DVD on eBay, but it could be crappy recording quality.
