I can't believe I'm posting this - but then I can't believe what just happened to a friend of mine.

He booted up PSO and for whatever reason, didn't choose 60Hz.
Not realising he was in 50Hz mode, he went online.
Sega no longer supports 50Hz and disconnected him.
This disconnection process corrupted his PSO files.

I am not kidding here. He was able to reproduce this glitch with a second memory card.

So please, PAL users. Be absolutely certain you are in 60Hz before you try to connect, unless you want to experience this corruption.

Ah, good warning. Although, what's wrong with 50Hz?

They're trying to tell you not to use the shiteness that is 50Hz.

50hz sucked but the people were more friendly.
60hz is better but full of jackass dicksmacks.

What, such as the stupid fuck who joined our game decided "dude, we've got a friend coming, we need the space free" means "please, stay here and spam that wanking symbol chat"? There's a few more sordid tales from my admittedly short tenure on the 50Hz server.

If you try to go online you will get disconnected. The memory card saves when you are getting to that point. If you press start too soon you will cancel the save midways. And then you are corrupt.

Happened to me last year when the server went down some hours during easter hunting.

Sure, there were assholes on 50Hz, but on average, the atmosphere was better, and the friendly people there seemed to have a bigger influence on the overall attitude of the community...

It's pretty easy to spot anyway - there's loads of lines across the screen when you choose the 50hz option (and the speed is really noticeable).
