Hearing a lot of talk about this, but I'm curious: What exactly is the difference?

If your not playing on a european gamecube/X box its nowt to worry about, but:

Basicly its to do with PAL TV systems
PAL stands for Phased Alternate Line
It normaly consists of 625 lines of resolution scanned at 50 times a second (50Hz)
60Hz PAL consists of 625 lines of resolution scanned at 60 times a second.
if your running in a 50Hz display your game has to also run at the same speed, so 50Hz meeting a 60Hz player online would cause problems, for that reason 50Hz and 60Hz are kept separate.

NTSC as used in North america consists of 525 lines of resolution that are scanned at 60 times a second, as the speed is the same PAL60Hz can play with NTSC 60Hz
theres also a bastard version of NTSC which runs at 50Hz, but with the lower resolution offered by NTSC and the lower speed, its not comonly used.

Also can I point out that the 50hz/60hz problem just not affect PSOX EU players.
