I got a PM from random people from time to time.
Today I got one from a person new to the forum asking about how do you get online, what would you need, and special mags question.

Now.
1. Why me? This is really random.
2. This is a page FULL of information. If you care to look at the site for even a moment I'm sure all the answers would be quite apparent.
Really. He should be glad that he didn't PM Kodi about this.

I've gotten a few of those. It happens. I guess they just kinda click on a name on the Forum Index and start PMin'.

Because:
1. He's a n00b?
2. You're popular?

People don't realize that 90% of your posts are in Fan Works.

They assume that you know much, yes? Wrong.

http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif We can only imagine...

I've only had one random PM, from a person saying they wanted a certain weapon... meh... Otherwise, no annoyances with the obvious.

I used to be very active in Mag, Quest and Section ID also. That was untill I found out people like to ask the same question over and over again. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif Then I left and head to FKL where people still do the same thing over and over again. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Point: I am still quite knowledgable, but that doesn't mean that people shouldn't look for answers themselves.

I tend to do as such, and as a result I am quite knowledgeable; ironically, it's because I have an aversion to asking people for help. Or talking to people in general... It's kind of odd... I hate the phone. Dunno why, exactly.

Getting PMed randomly is nowhere near as annoying as getting IMed randomly. Not to mention from people that talked to you four years ago and expect you to remember who they are.

It's because you both have female avatars. They think you two are girls and are trying to hook up with you by asking questions. I've only gotten two random PMs. One asking if I was from Earthbound and another one thanking me for the hacks I gave him (which didn't happen).

I dunno about all that Ness, though on the other hand, I do remember that early on after I'd first registered on PSO World some guy kept bugging me over PM. Being a guy myself, I wasn't terribly crazy about being hit on by another guy, and it didn't take me long to just start ignoring PMs from the guy. I wasn't quite sure how to react at the time, though if it were to happen again, I'd be like, "Dude, I'm a guy. Knock it off."

Of course, a number of weeks ago, someone (I forget who) PMed me asking if I was a chick, and I solved the matter rather quickly by simply replying, "What does my profile say?" That put an end to it rather efficiently.

in the past few months i've gotten about twenty random IMs asking about different things about PSO.

normally theyre usual questions that come with nubness, but there are some really good questions that i answer thoughtfully as well.

but the thing is, when they IM me again asking whats up, and expectme to remember them.

actual AIM conversation...

[name removed] Hey

[KaFKaSiC] ...hi

[name removed] So whats up?

[KaFKaSiC] uhm, who exactly are you?

[name removed] I thought we were friends?

[KaFKaSiC] homie, unless i was ungodly drunk when we last had a conversation, i dont know you, let alone be "friends" with you...

its stuff like that that angers me. when they expect you to act friendly after one conversation.

i mean seriously, im not known as "La Chupacabra" for nothing.

Well. I guess I'd imagine the Kaf/Kefs would get more of these type of things. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Luckily I put all my IM profiles private.

ive never gotten any random PM's, that makes me feel lonely... sorry. that was rather off topic i think.
but seriously i THINK i would enjoy getting a random PM from time to time, you know, something new... and i would get to laugh at the stupidity of other people http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_evil.gif

Before I was a mod I would constantly get PMs and IMs, people asking me how to do things, or about certin items or quests.

Ends up my name was like the last one listed on the contributors list, and they were getting it from there -_-

Well you're different. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif
And now I know not to ever PM you.

So I think we have come to a conclusion.

Navi, you're being PMed because

1. You're a girl...
2. ...an ATTRACTIVE girl
3. You are well-known
4. You have a special avatar
5. Your name was on the front page for 4 months when you won the February contest. Someone was bound to click it sooner or later
6. Once again, because you are a girl...
7. ...and people are very horny.

...

And We've also come to the conclusion that I get IMed randomly....

1. For no reason
2. Because they Heard about me from a friend*
3. To warn me to 100% and call me a "Faggot newb"

* = Someone with 6+ SNs on my ever-growing blocklist

you beat me to it -_- I mean, to most people it just doesn't seem logical to post someone on a home page when they don't have a clue what the things about.
Some of them probably though she was liked because she was good at PSO. Also, I doubt it has much to do with looks considering a lot of new comers don't bother (or notice for several months, like me, heh) the RL picture thread.

I dunno. Not like you can tell right away, right? (and everyone knows navi is really a man in disguise) Well yes there is the avatar, but look at Kodi! He has a cute RAcaseal avatar and really, he is kinda far from what you imagine from a typical girlie, right? http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

But now that you mention about my name on the front page, I guess. And it is still there. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif

Tee hee. I wonder if Astuarlen and Eclair are getting more PM now. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Oh, Eclair is definitely getting more personal messages now... whether it's because of random new people is a different matter.

The only PM i've sent her was one she requested, as far as I remember.
Anyways, I have gotten a few stray and random PMs before, but I think it was mostly a case of mistaken identity (the messages already figured I knew what the conversation was about).
