Which is the better ID for a FOnewm, Purplenum or Redria?

MechanicalArt
Jul 2, 2004, 04:47 AM
And is yellowboze good for them? because I read somewhere on here that it is the best for a FOnewm.

redria and yellowboze are both great all-around section id's. Purplenum can find some good stuff, but most of what they find is guns for the ranger class (mechguns in particular) so I wouldn't suggest it for a FOnewm specifically. If you don't have a redria yet, I'd suggest you make that one first.

The only other ID I got is skyly so I might go for Redria.
Thanks

you're welcome! you won't be disappointed with redria. it's a good section id til you get to ultimate: then it becomes BETTER than good http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_cool.gif

Purplenum gets loads of MECHguns, and the 9 stars are much better for HU's than RA's (if they have hit).

I would say redria. Why? Because EVERYONE should have a redria. If you want my real opinion, make 4 chars. Whitill, Yellowboze, Redria, and Purplenum.

Agreed 100% DO THIS! Redria is a must have if you play PSO. Period.
First get a Redria then consider making your FOnewm.

I'm going to quote myself for the sake of not typing this up again... again!

Make a Purplenum FOnewm.

While going through Hard mode, you'll come across the ever useful (against Falz that is) Club of Laconium. Purplenum will also allow you to get the hildebear/hildeblue cane(s) relatively early on in the game and those are always nice for FO users. Less usefull, but just as easy to obtain in V-hard forest is the Elysion (in case you decide to melee with your FOnewm at an early point of the game). De Rol Le in V-hard might also be very kind to you and drop a nice Mahu (very very nice for TP recovery). Best of all in v-hard, although not exclusive to purplenum, is that nice pipeable God/Mind unit from the Nar Lily.

By the time you get to Dark Falz on V-hard, you should have absolutely no trouble kicking her/its sorry ass with everything you've acquired. Should you ever get stuck in Ruins in v-hard you could take some time off and hunt for a stink frame from a death gunner, assuming your capable of getting online to get the neccessary items to upgrade said armor. It will serve you well until you get to a very nice place in Ultimate for a Purplenum FOnewm, CAVES!

Ultimate caves, purplenum section ID, and FOnewms were born for one another. In there you will find two items that are of particular interest to FOnewms, the Psycho Wand (pipeable) and the Smoking Plate. In caves as a FOnewm you will have no trouble nuking everything in site. If you go for the Smoking Plate first, you can do a FOnewm's dream quest, Addicting Food. Things WILL go BOOM! Eventually, you will find the smoking plate, at which point you will be able to leave addicting food behind and move on to waterfall tears, where you will pipe (perhaps for a long while) for the greatest (IMHO) FOnewm weapon to ever exist, http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_evil.gif THE PSYCHO WAND http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_evil.gif .

SO, there ya' go; Purplenum FOnewm. Before you start your journey into FOnewm greatness, I suggest you find yourself a Fire Scepter: Agni using your Yellowboze. I might also suggest that you use your Redria and hunt yourself a nice cure/paralysis. Eventually, with the cure/paralysis and a purplenum FOnewm in ultimate, you will be able to go into Ep.2 Temple and hunt for a very commonly sought after rare for rangers (assuming you have one), the Yasminkov 9000M. You will Nuke everything in sight, and you will be able to do it sporatically without having to worry about being paralyzed by a stupid Lily who doesn't appreciate your fireworks.

GO MAKE A PURPLENUM FONEWM NOW!!! GOGOGOGOGO!!!
We all gunnn dieeee... http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_quickdraw.gif

If your anything like Xaos127 or Zion88, you will do as I say, for I am hungry, and I shall eat purplenum nonbelievers! BRUUARRRGGGHHH!!! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_evil.gif This game relies alot on maintaining a sort of equilibrium/harmony by using the correct section IDs correctly. Few section IDs out there are good simply on their own. I suggest you make not only a new FOnewm (redria is fine, since redria might spend some heavy time piping for lavis cannon), but don't forget to make youself a purplenum further down the line (make sure it's not an android... and you might want a character with TP regeneration ability... see HUnewearl).

So to recap:
1. Make Redria FOnewm (since you've probably already done that)
2. Make a Purplenum character you like who you'll level up alongside your FOnewm.
3. TRY to get yourself a nice Yellowboze (whatever class)

Since Rico has AGAIN beaten me to a FOnewm section ID question, I'll be brief.

Make a Purplenum FOnewm since Purplenum finds Psycho Wand and Smoking Plate in Caves.

Then make a Redria character of some kind, Redria is a most excellent.

So lemme repeat. Redria rulez. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif
Personally, I'd really save the Purplenum for the Ranger. I had a horrible, horrible, horrible experience with a Purplenum FOnewm once that made me lose faith in Purplenum plus a non-ranger.

Whoa. What am I doing here?

Whoa, what are you doing here?!

And ummm, while I do agree that redria rules and that purplenum ID doesn't have to neccessarily go on the FOnewm, I think a ranger would be the most inappropiate of classes to have that ID, taking into account that it will be used for piping a Psycho Wand. Like I said (and if you check my profile, did), HUnewearl purplenum would be great for purplenum as a character that grows right alongside the FOnewm and who has nice TP regeneration skills for those long hours of piping for a Psycho Wand.

I suppose when you have multiple characters the ID actually doesn't matter as much as if you only have one character. Since everything is transferable and you can pretty much hunt whatever you want with whatever character you have, right? http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

yea, purplenum has the 1/205 psycho wand drop from mil lillies. And it's smoking plate drop is... meh, ok. But that's 2 items, and although they're freakin awesome, they're also EXTREMELY hard to come by. If this guy only has one other section ID (skyly), I'm guessing he doesn't have many chars, and not that much playing time under his belt. Therefore, he's not goign to want to spend hundreds of hours hunting a single near-impossible drop when he could make a redria character and easily find items that will benefit ALL his characters that he presently has, and many future ones as well.

I'll say it one more time: redria all the way!!!

I played PSO a lot on the dreamcast and I like looking for rares so I made a purplenum FOnewm and a redria RAmar. Another question, is it worth trying to max the FOnewms stats with the materials shown in the guides because it dosen't look like he gets very close. Would it be better just give him mind and defence materials?

RicoRoyal is your man on that question. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif
He knows maxing stats. Technically you can't max a newm's stats, but you can get close enough it's prolly worth doing it.

WARNING: Furribagy's Maxing Stats Guide has severe ERRORS in the FOnewm section. As far as I can tell, it's the only error in the guide, but it is a huge error that you should know about right now before you start maxing your FOnewm... also, if your reading this right now, MechanicalArt, DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT FEED YOUR FONEWM A SINGLE DEF. MATERIAL. Doing so will prevent you from achieving near maxed stats!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

I'll be quoting myself again so as to make this easier on myself http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

The following is quoted from the following thread:

I WOULD LIKE TO REMIND EVERYONE TO NOT POST IN ANY OF THE THREE THREADS LISTED IN THIS POST. THEY ARE OLD AND SHOULD NOT BE BUMPED

Kewl. Good to see your interested... let me get some links for ya' and then you can kinda comprehend where I got my info from.

This is furrybagi's maxing stats guide:
http://www.pso-world.com/sections.php?op=viewarticle&artid=940
It is incorrect about how to max a FOnewm

Here is a thread explaining why the above is true:
http://www.pso-world.com/viewtopic.php?topic=74983&forum=7
Also, you will note the stats that I decided upon after a nice discussion with some very helpful individiuals.

So yeah, my FOnewm will be nearly maxed out at level 200 given the following:

Materials
ATP: 59
DFP: 0
MST: 52
EVP: 34
LCK: 5

Mag
DEF: 5
POW: 2
DEX: 88
MIND: 105

Units
God/Ability x4

Notice that not a single material is wasted on defense. With all of these requirements met, my FOnewm will be shy of 100% all yellow stats thanks only to 8 points of MST. My FOnewms stats will also want to go wayyyy over the max amount thanks to those god/ability units (therefore making the 5 DEF on mag obsolite) Now I know I kind of contradict myself when I said so few MST points matter very little in terms of actual tech damage to enemies.... that however is not the case when it comes to maxing stats. YELOO IS THE BESTEST COLOR EVA! If 4 of those DEF stat points on mag could be done away with, they could totally go towards 4 MIND stat points in turn giving the 8 mst pts needed for totally maximization.

Starting to understand why a 0 DEF mag is a blessing for a FOnewm? Good, hope I didn't lose you anywhere. If I did, feel free to ask any questions.

BTW: ME----> http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wet-trout.gif <----Miroku77

Heheh... yeah, I had to kill off my 2nd FOnewm (lv. 90 whitill) when I first found out that the guide was wrong. But I can assure you that the quick little guide I wrote for you and others like you has served it's purpose very, very well. My new FOnewm is on his way to reaching 150 and has been fed all the proper materials, plus given the correct mag. You'll be pwning stuff in ultimate around level 90 (when I say ultimate I mean ultimate mines and/or ruins), given that diet I just suggested.

SO yeah, thanks for hearing me out and I hope you do well with your new FOnewm (who btw looks very kewl... and has a very interesting name). Now let's all just sit back an enjoy watching this thread sink to the bottom of these here forums.
