Having trouble connecting

I'm using an RCA Broadband modem with Comcast. I'm plugging the cable from the modem directly into my Gamecube. Every time I've tried to connect, I've gotten an error. I checked my settings, and when I try to input the primary and secondary DHS, it says that they're both invalid. Can anyone help?

unplug the modem from the mains, plug in the gamecube BBA to the (powered off and unplugged from the mains)modem plug the modem back into the power suply, wait for it to initialise, go online on your gamecube.
if that doesnt work you need to register your gamecube BBA MAC address with your ISP, its on a sticker by the bar code on the BBA.

Acutually I had this problem also. I fixed it by running my line through a router it costs a bit but its worth it.
