Yeah...

Whenever I goto load a game, I have to keep trying about 2-3 times before it'll read the game disk and allow it to load up. I'm assuming this means my GCN is about to die...yay...

So, I ask a question. What is the cheapest place I can get a pre-modded GCN, or would it be cheaper to buy a new $100 GCN and get it modded at an import shop (since I cant work with motherboards as small as the GCN's...)

Thanks.

Perhaps the scanner eye thing is just a bit dirty. Eh, you probably tried that already, though. Well, I am not 100% sure but I think you can buy a modded Cube at Lik-Seng (or something like that), a import website.

Yes I'm tired of that... but I sense no dissing in this thread. What do you consider dissing?

That'd better be it ..

Nintendo tends to make long lasting hardware. My n64 lasted some 3 years before I had to start blowing into the cartridges.

Oh, and the gamecube is very durable.
It even survived Shimarisu. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif
After the length the older systems lasted, I'd expect the gamecube to last until about the end of the next generation, before it starts dying out on us.

Hah, he probably just read the title and assumed it was about the GCN dying in sales. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_lol.gif

Heh, you'd better read the back of a N64 cartridge. One of the following says not to blow. But meh. My N64 lasted about the same before I had to stop inserting the cartridge in and out till the game plays when it is on. But even if it is on, the game will freeze if I give the cartridge a small wriggle.

Back in the old days of the NES, I remember seeing the kids (when I was a kid too) using the water from the sink in the bathroom pouring it in the NES cartridge instead of blowing. I'm not sure it did any good which was what they thought, but the cartridges still works.

lol, I have the same problem on GC too, but much more extreme I suppose. I clean the eye and disk regularly now before each play, and I still sit there for 1 to 2 hours of restarting the GC motor for attempt after attempt at reading the disc. I have even picked up vast knowledge on the sounds keying me in on what the GC is trying(and failing) to do. Frustrating enough, it's also a wonderful test and exercise of patience (results vary, lol). Oh well, I've had my GC since 2000, or whatever year it was released, so maybe it's finally loosing its power. I'm not all to keen to paying for another though, even with the price dropped as far as it has since its release. We'll see when it happens... For now I'll enjoy my new copy of Tales of Symphonia (after successfuly loading it... It's on right now, because I don't want to turn it off and loose the time again to start it up, heheh)
