Well, I'm new here, so I guess I'll start off by saying 'hi' to everyone out there.

My problem is this I just got my now lvl 67 HUnewearl into Ultimate (i was 66 after V. hard falz), and i'm having a lot of trouble. i know the difficulty jump is probably pretty big, but I don't think I should be having trouble clearing forest 1 at 67. She is my first character into Ult and is offline only, for now.
heres my stats:

ATP - 599
DFP - 205
MST - 393
ATA - 126
EvP - 393
LCK - 23

HP - 486
TP - 459

Mag: Savitri lvl 167
Def: 30
Pow: 62 (the only one i plan on building up)
Dex: 50
Mind: 25

Gear:
Kaladbolg +8
Varista +18
Gush Gungnir +10

Secret Gear

Valiant Frame
- Ogre/Power++
- Ogre/Power+
- Master/Ability
- General/Battle

So I guess my question is why am and should I be dying so much!? If anyone has any advice, I'd really appreciate it.

What is your section ID?

All I can tell from your stats and equipment is that your probably need more ATA. IF you have a Skyly ID, then your in luck. You can go into V-hard Forest and pipe for a God/Arm off of a Hildeblue. http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_yes.gif If you never miss, then the enemies will never hit you. I hope your good with two hit combos. Your Gungir should be fast enough for you to do a weak-hard-dodge combo.

Also, try running "Battle Training" over and over again, using Kireek as a shield http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif At such a low level, you will level up rather quickly using the quest. Just make sure not to finish the quest in it's entirety, so that you may have further access to it.

EDIT: And duh.. WELCOME TO PSOW http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_bday.gif

I'm a Redria..... and I already finished Battle Training http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

I guess I could add more dex to my mag, but i think its only .5 points of ATA per dex point http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif

And i am using shifta, deband and zalure. with S casted I htink I'm averagin around 80 damage for normal attacks and 155 for heavy.

Maybe I should just keep persisting, since the experience is waaay better than anything in v. hard?

If it were me, I would do a few caves runs and try to get a God/arm off a Pan Arms. Just make good use of Gibarta/Varista Special to stop the Pan Arms splitting, and soon enough you'll have your reward! It'll also give you a chance to feed your mag, as well as perhaps finding some better weapons, Grass Assassin's arms, for example.

I'd stick in forest until at least level 100 though. Caves ultimate isn't easy, and you need much more HP, which generally means a higher level. Anyway, if you stick in ultimate Forest, chances are you'll find a God/Battle, IMO the best item in the game http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Butler what equipment do you have, cause at that lvl you should be ok.

Lvl 80, would be perfect. Try looking for a Hildebears cane on very hard. Its easy to storm through both forest and caves, using the boosted foie
(thats what the hilde cane boosts). Oh, and don't be so reluctant with your force, any force can get through the caves easily. Then you just need to worry about the horror of Ult. Mines.

Perhaps a few V-hard mines-ruins runs are in order?

Why do people never think of backtracking?

agreed! the thing is, my friends all told me "oh dude, YU DONT wanna play on ultimate, yu'll get yur ass kicked!" (now realise, at this time my character was a lvl 82) and i said "oh yea? well watch me!" so then i got almost completely throught forest 2..when i met up with my nightmare a hildelt.. i barely defeated the speedy cheap-ass creature, and i wasnt even near the Sil Dragon... im not gonna go indepth with what happend then..but lets say it took about 14 returns to finally beat the boss..

Everyone should listen to Antimony. He just made some wonderful suggestions for ya, Vroomfondel. Go find yourself that God/Arm, raise up your mag some more, and then go back into forest and stay there for a while until you can find a nice shiny new God/Battle. You'll wan't to do Addicting Food runs in V-hard for the God/Arm, and then you'll want to head straight on over to Forest of Sorrow runs in Ultimate for the God/Battle. Once you have both those things, you'll immediately notice how much better you HUnewearl will be doing in Ult. Happy hunting! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

Oh, before I forget... DO NOT FINISH QUEST IN SUCH A RUSH!!! Keep them for a while, as they may prove useful (AF and FoS being of particular interest to you).

If you cannot take that heat, I don't think you can do Ruins... http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif jk

Neh, my first run in Ult went fine, my FO was owning everything. I got to the boss, and pwned him! >;]
lvl 79 baby...(surprised, ya, I was too, maybe because I ROCK! XD)

Don't give up just because I speed demon for a monkey killed you. Get a gun, keep your distance, use traps/barta techs. =/ And if it keeps pwning you...well...that's unthinkable...

Oh ya, about backtracking. ^_^ I have had my experence with it. BORING. I will keep it short and simple...Ult is the juice of the game...

Thanks everyone!

I just cleared forest 2 last night, only to soon discover that the order of events for Sil Dragon was 1. Freeze 2. Die http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif

And is it just me, or does v. hard ruins give better drops than ult forest?

One word: God/Battle

OR wait... is that two words? http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_confused.gif

http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif

Since your getting mighty close to making it to Caves, I decided to make a revised set of guidelines for you.

1. V-hard Addicting Food runs for God/Arm (old)
2. V-hard Seek My Master runs for Delsaber's Left Arm (new)
3. Ultimate Forest of Sorrow runs for God/Battle

By the time you find the two V-hard items, you will be strong enough to take on FoS runs. By the time your done with FoS runs, you'll not only be strong enough to destroy the dragon, but you'll also be strong enough AND fast enough AND accurate enough AND Dark Resistance enough to make it into Caves. You'll do great if you stick with that order. Good luck and have fun!

Awesome. I already have a Delsabers Left Arm... and his shield http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif I prefer Secret Gear because it has better resists...

and since when do i need dark resisitance in the caves !? http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif

Simplely said, from most mouths, Megid. The more Resisitance you have, the less likely you will die to the Megid, but don't push your luck...trust me...

Well, there are these little beasts called ob lilies that shoot this little purple ball called megid THAT WILL KILL YOU IN ONE FREAKING HIT!! http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif Yes, I know it's quite sad and frightening, but that's why you need dark resistances.

I must agree this is very helpful forums. I'd say this is an effect of PSO being a multiplayer cooperation game.

My bro's lvl 57 on ult forest, he's whitil & getting destroyed. But he loves it anyhow. I'm lvl 51 on vhard ruins with a hune getting destroyed. I love it anyhow. The challenge in this game is the funnest part.

heh yall got it pretty good...im a level 115 RAcast and im still being messed up pretty much in ult caves...im using my s-rank mechguns (i know, i know...it was a long time ago...but i have the accuracy to hit 8/9 times, so thats pretty good i guess...) that i grinded to +99...my dark resistence is at 30 and those ob lillies still mess me up, among other things...i hug the doors and try to snipe them...but their megid still knocks me...ive been doing constant ult forest runs since level 107, and its gettin slow...i dunno why i cant do any good in the caves...i could use help?

(i have Dreamcastv2 version only, and im a Viridia)

about the sil dragon...i find state/maitenence ROCKS. of course, they dont have it in GC/Xbox version...oh well...

You could try moving closer, because the lillies will stop megid-ing after you get within a certain range... and yeah it's tough, I just beat Sil Dragon at 75 and then got owned in the caves ( which by the way are still ugly as hell http://www.pso-world.com/psoworld/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif ), and get some resist/devils too.

I'm never for leveling, but at the moment you should.
With my HUnewearl I started the forest at Lvl 64 and defeated the dragon at Lvl 67.
I kept going through the caves. It took hours to get through and the boss was a disaster. I had 10 di- and trifluids, but he was to strong. After battleing him for 25 minutes?! I used my last trifluid. 5 minutes later I had 2 TP and 5 HP. I thought I was a gonner and wanted to quit. So I took one last shot and awaited punishement, but the boss disapeard only to do his die scene. I was stunned.
I don't think you want to try that, so I suggest some leveling

I suggest you make a few forrest runs. The only reason I got through the caves is because I had a red handgun (still the strongest weapon I ever found). If you're gear is good, mag is good and level 200 and you leveled a bit you'll make a good chance.

Good luck on the caves,
Sha

Well by the way I look at it, I will never have real problem then since I am lvl 86 and I am still in VH and I need to do one quest before I go and make the mines...
well for my part, I did climb my lvl by hunting every rare item I could find in every lvl.
Right now, I manage to get all item I can get only in hard mode and got all item from the VH forest, and I trully love my cure shock!!! Vol Opt is so easy now lol(Soon I will hunt him at VH...)
Then again I play only offline but I do play with my nephew time to time and always fun to show each other what news items we found out!

So finally all I can say to help you do the forest easier look for some item in Very Hard that you would like to get and go hunt for it, and try not to pipe for it so you will get higher in lvl and be even stronger!!!

I'm assuming from the many post that I've read on this thread that we're pretty much talking about offline only, because everything changes with a good team online and TTF's have a dramatic affect on your leveling capabilities.

So, offline, I've always maintained that Soul of a Blacksmith, Forest of Sorrow, Fake in Yellow, Waterfall of Tears and Retired Hunter were among the best VH runs to do for leveling up. With these runs, you get great opportunties to find rare creatures with great drops, you get pretty decent experience while collecting those drops and you amass a large collection of dolls/discs/grinders and mats while doing repeat runs. What's not to like?

Once you've leveled up a bit, collected all the wonderful God-stuff and strong weapons and built up a collection of dolls and such for your bank, you're more than ready to tackle ultimate. With a Shield of Delsaber and a few Devil Resists, easy enough to get in VH, you'll have no problem with megid in either the caves or in the temple, making your search for items like the Lavis Blade that much easier.

don't get your hops up with a higher lv mag or better aiming i'm lv 93 and still getting killed in the caves the only thing that is workin for me in there is my demon's laser (cuts enemys hp by 1/4)
